It’s good to recycle. One of the very first contracts you will get in Marathon is to bring Salvage to the DCON. Those are some funny words when you first start playing, and it won’t make much sense, but this guide will show you what you do and how to do it as safely as possible. The easiest way to think of a DCON in Marathon is that it’s a deaddrop. You can bring very specific items there, called Salvage, drop them off, and then get broken down and scanned by your friends in the factions. Salvage is an overall category of loot that you can find, consisting of items like the Unstable Metal, shown above. It will spawn all over the map, but a great place to find it on Perimeter is near the Station POI. There are assorted outbuildings and machines where Salvage is a regular spawn. There are also a number of DCONs on the map, and they will be marked by square icons with little antennae on them. You can also find one of these just ot the northeast of Station, on the roof of a small outbuilding. To get to the roof, you can find a ladder on the side wall. Climb onto the roof and then interact with the DCON. This will open your inventory, and you can drag your Salvage items to the eight empty boxes on the right, which represent the DCON’s capacity. Once that is done, close the screen, and the DCON will flash, some components will spin, and that is that, the Salvage will be deconstructed and on its way.
