How to find the Strange Signal in Destiny 2

Another normal day in Destiny 2.

The final update for Destiny 2 has introduced all manner of new things to do, including chasing Strange Signals around the solar system. This is actually part of an important way to farm weapons from now on in the game, and you can get some very strong gear from it. This is what you need to do.

Strange Signals are introduced during the Distortions quest. You will earn your first one by going to a planet that is hosting a Distortion event. These are marked in your Director by a red icon. If you go to those planets and open chests, gather materials, and finish public events, you will get an item called Strange Matter. Getting 50 of those will transform them into a Strange Signal.

Now, the Strange Signal is a location on the map that you are on when you earn the item. You’ll see the Strange Signal item pop up in the top right of the screen, and you’ll know that it has populated on your map. If you open your map, you will see a small circle marked somewhere on the map, just like in the image above. Click on it to set a navigation waypoint, then follow the small diamond chevron that appears on your HUD to get there.

When you arrive, you will find a boss you need to kill. This boss will be affected by the Distortion, making them more powerful, and will likely have a little entourage of other enemies with them. Take them all out, then grab the chest to get your hands on some solid loot.

You can then repeat this process by collecting Strange Matter on planets that are affected by Distortions, and the Strange Signal map market will always be found on the planet that you collect the final piece of Strange Matter on.
