Plus a look at shiny Nacli.
Nacli and its evolutions, Naclstack and Garganacl, from Gen 9 can now be caught in Pokémon Go.
Now you might be looking at Nacli and saying, ‘That’s a Minecraft!’ If that’s the case, then I’m sorry. Nacli is actually inspired by rock salt and its pure Rock-typing reflects this. (Though, yes. It does look like it belongs in Minecraft, but don’t let that hold you back from catching it in Pokémon Go.)
Below you’ll learn how to get Nacli in Pokémon Go, along with how to evolve Naclstack into Garganacl and a look at shiny Nacli.

How to get Nacli in Pokémon Go
Nacli debuted during December 2025’s Journey to Paldea event in Pokémon Go.
Here’s how to catch Nacli during the Journey to Paldea event:

- In the wild
- Event-exclusive research tasks (‘Catch 5 different species of Pokémon’ and ‘Power up Pokémon 10 times’)
The easiest way to catch Nacli is to find it in the wild. Since it’s a new Pokémon, Nacli will be prioritised by the Pokémon radar in the bottom right-hand corner of your device’s screen. This will help you catch your first Nacli and, afterwards, it’s worth keeping an eye to see if there’s another Nacli near your current location. Thankfully, Nacli is appearing throughout the whole Journey to Paldea event so you should be able to encounter quite a few!
The event-exclusive research tasks are a good way to grab an extra Nacli or two as well, especially since Nacli is the only reward you can gain from these tasks. Though it’s worth keeping in mind that you will need to find one of these research tasks. The tasks offered by each PokéStop change on a daily basis and the seasonal research tasks are still available, so it might take you some time to find the right one. If there’s a local Pokémon Go group, then consider seeing if anyone has already found the PokéStop you need.
I highly recommend taking the time to catch at least one Nacli during the Journey to Paldea event. This will ensure you’re able to complete its evolution line in the Pokédex. It’s best to do this during the event as it’s unclear how Nacli will spawn after Journey to Paldea ends at the time of writing. It could, of course, become a frequent spawn, but, as we’ve seen with other new Pokémon released this year, it might become quite the hard find.
You can get a shiny Keldeo thanks to the Masterwork Research: Pony Tales quest. There’s a lot to do in Pokémon Go outside of the current event! First, it’s worth learning about the level update. After this, you might want to fight in the Go Battle League, use Party Play, compete in a PokéStop Showcase or explore a Route for its Gift Exchange. Keep an eye out for rare Pokémon and don’t forget to collect Max Particles, so you can battle Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles.
How to evolve Nacli into Naclstack and Garganacl in Pokémon Go
You need 25 Nacli Candy to evolve Nacli into Naclstack in Pokémon Go. Once you’ve gotten a Naclstack, you’ll need an additional 100 Nacli Candy to evolve it into Garganacl. This means you need 125 Nacli Candy in total to complete this evolution line.

If you’re a long time Pokémon Go player, then you should be pretty used to the grind for Pokémon with two evolutions. Just make sure you’re using Pinap Berries whenever you have the chance to catch a Nacli. You can also have Nacli as your buddy Pokémon to gather up some extra candy, but I would save your Rare Candy for rarer Pokémon.
Are Nacli, Naclstack and Garganacl shiny in Pokémon Go?
No, shiny Nacli is not in Pokémon Go at the time of writing. Instead, you’ll have to wait for shiny Nacli to be added, but, once it is, you’ll be able to evolve it into shiny Naclstack and Garganacl.
I have mixed feelings about shiny Nacli, because, while it’s not green, it’s not very exciting. Basically — because it is very basic — the white salt of Nacli has turned a burnt orange colour. (I can only imagine this means it’s a form of chilli salt now rather than regular salt.) This design is shared with shiny Naclstack and shiny Garganacl — turning any block of white into orange. It’s fine. I guess.
