To no veteran online looter shooter player surprise, obtaining new characters and gears requires you to peel layers of crafting materials. You might be swimming in Gold very fast, but collecting rare crafting items is an entirely different story. Fortunately, the game provides a way to increase the chance of dropping low drop-rate raid materials. Utilizing this so-called Shape Stabilizer will be very important if you aim to farm Ultimate Descendant crafting materials in The First Descendant.
What is a Shape Stabilizer?
A Shape Stabilizer is an item that is used to increase the odds of Descendant crafting materials dropping from Void Intercept raid bosses. The item itself has a quite low drop rate of 0.4% to 2%, and depending on the Form, it will affect different loot rates.
Let’s take Shape Stabilizer Form 6 as an example. The Stabilizer can only be used for Amorphous Material Pattern: 036, opening only after defeating Pyromaniac. Now, whether or not you use a Shape Stabilizer when opening the Reconstruction Device, it’ll offer this loot table:

As you can see, the Shape Stabilizer lowers the drop chance of Weapon Blueprints to boost the Descendant materials’ rate. Because of that, we suggest using the Stabilizers only when you want to unlock new characters.
Where and How To Get or Use Shape Stabilizers
Completing these missions in The First Descendant will reward you with a Shape Stabilizer:
- Special Operations, drop rate varies depending on waves.
- Calling of the Descendant, 2% drop rate.
- Zone Recon Mission, 0.4% chance.
However, different areas will drop different Stabilizer Forms. You can check your Consumables inventory or Access Info for the complete information of the Stabilizers. Hovering over Amorphous Materials will also let you know which Stabilizer Form can be used.

The Shape Stabilizer is then used after you’ve defeated The First Descendant Void Intercept Colossus.
