You need a Sawmill
No sawmill, no planks. That’s the rule. The Sawmill is the crafting station that turns logs into planks.
To make a Sawmill, here’s what you’ll need:

Bronze Bars

A Building Area unlocked (any base location that lets you place crafting buildings)
Build the sawmill through the Base Building menu when you’ve got the parts. It won’t even show up until you’ve discovered the right materials (like bronze), so if you haven’t seen the option, that’s why.
Chop Some Logs
Head into the wilds and grab yourself some logs—Ash logs work just fine. There may be other types later, but for now, these are the MVPs of early woodwork.
Use the Sawmill to Make Planks
Once your sawmill is up and running:

Walk up to it

Use your logs inside

Congratulations, you now have planks
They’ll go straight into your inventory, ready to be used for building, crafting, or hoarding like a true fantasy survivalist.
