Sometimes, violence is the answer in Schedule 1. You have the default option to punch NPCs when you don’t have a weapon available, but that can drain a decent amount of stamina without dealing enough damage to be worth it. Currently, you can get through the game easily enough without having any weapons. However, that could change in a future update, since the game is still in its Early Access period.
Whether you need one now or later, weapons are available in the current version of the game. You can’t purchase one right when you start, but as you increase your rank in Hyland Point, they’re one of many features that start to be unlocked for you.
How to Get a Weapon
First, you need to unlock the warehouse, which is part of the «Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy» quest. Then, you can speak with Stan in the warehouse to purchase both melee weapons and guns. He only accepts cash, so make sure that you have enough on you beforehand, or you’ll need to use the ATM in the center of the warehouse next to the Cuke machine.
Like most vendors, you don’t have access to all of Stan’s weapons at first. You need to keep gaining experience to raise your rank if you want to unlock every available weapon. Additionally, guns don’t have infinite ammo, so you’ll need to keep track of your bullets and purchase more when you run low. Weapon prices are:
- Baseball Bat — $50
- Frying Pan — $100
- Machete — $250
- Revolver — $1,000
- M1911 — $2,500
Then, ammo for the revolver costs $10 for six bullets, while a magazine for the M1911 costs $20. The downside with guns is that the louder a weapon is, the more likely you are to attract attention from the police, which turns into a chase as you try to avoid being arrested. Luckily, weapons don’t count as illegal items, so you won’t receive extra charges for carrying them if you’re arrested, and they don’t hinder your ability to get through police checkpoints. With that being said, you don’t need to rush to get a weapon, as you likely won’t be in a situation where you need one that often in Schedule 1 right now.
