If you were the coach, what would you have done?

An Ohio woman speaks out after she said she was removed from a paid space due to being a Trump supporter. She shares what happened when she was working with a coach, and they found out she wasn’t liberal. In doing so, she brings to light how incredibly lonely and isolating it can be to experience something like this.
Courtney (@thetruthparlor) shared a TikTok video about how she was working with a life coach when things turned upside-down for her. According to Courtney, she paid for the experience with this coach. She knew the coach was liberal so she tended to keep her politics out of this coaching space. When politics came up, she tried to stay as “liberal-adjacent” as possible, according to her. But soon, the coach found out that Courtney voted for Trump in the election. Suddenly, Courtney was removed from the coaching space she rightfully paid for.

I was removed from a paid space by a coach when she found out I voted for Trump. I paid to be in a coaching space and never fully showed up as myself, because I knew exactly which version of me would be allowed to stay. I was always liberal-adjacent in there, careful, agreeable. I knew she was liberal, so I never let the rest of me show up. Then she found out who I actually voted for. Trump. She removed me. I wasn’t even surprised. I’d been hiding so long that getting caught just confirmed what I already knew the version of me they liked wasn’t the real one. If you’re still calculating what’s safe to say and what it might cost you, that’s not protection. That’s a double life. And the real cost isn’t getting canceled it’s never finding out who actually stays once you stop hiding. #peoplepleaser #blacksheep #blacksheepofthefamily #misunderstood #choosingme

Courtney found out she was removed from the paid space when she went online to find the group, and it no longer appeared. According to Courtney, the coach learned about her and her politics by looking at her social media. Courtney said that the classes with this coach always felt off to her. She says she knew there were always “things she couldn’t say” without feeling like an outcast. Because Courtney couldn’t be herself in this coaching space, she decided to be herself on her personal social media. She never expected that they would kick her out of a space she paid for.
Courtney said that what she experienced felt adjacent to a high school experience. She said, “I remember feeling kicked out of the lunch table from the cool girls.” However, she didn’t agree with “sacrificing her beliefs” and who she was to fit in with others. Courtney ends her video by telling people to free themselves from that mindset and become “liberated” as they stand up for their rights.
Internet Divided Over Ohio Woman’s Trump Vote Claims
The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters, some of whom took Courtney’s side. However, a large number of commenters agreed with Courtney’s coach’s decision. As one commenter pointed out, “It’s more about what your vote says about you. It clearly explains how you feel people should be treated, and what you’re willing to overlook.” Another asked, “It’s a paid space. Isn’t that how capitalism works?”
Many commenters agreed that the coach made the right decision, adding, “Glad she chose to protect others.” Commenters continue to share their reactions to this video, with some offering support and others saying the coach made the right decision. The video continues to gain attention on Courtney’s social media.
