Paralives spent two months getting roasted over its unsettling baby designs, and the developers finally announced a redesign was coming.

The trouble started in May, the day Early Access opened, when players who’d just learned how to have a baby in Paralives got their first real look at what came out the other end. One Reddit post picked apart exactly why the infants felt so uncanny, and the complaints only grew from there.

Now, the developers are finally showing their work.

Paralives redesign babies after fan backlash

On X, Paralives Studio admitted the babies needed some work, and it posted a side-by-side sneak peek of the redesign ahead of patch 0.1.7, due out August 10.

The images showed proportions that had been softened and faces that had been quietly rearranged, though nothing close to a total overhaul. Even so, it was the first real acknowledgment from the studio since players started raising concerns back in May.

The timing lined up with everything else the studio had promised since launch. Paralives built its identity around free updates for the life of the game, no paid DLC, ever, and a roadmap that shifted according to community feedback.

Baby proportions were one small line item next to pools, pets, and seasons, all still on the way, but they were also the first cosmetic complaint the studio had addressed directly since Early Access began.

Patch 0.1.7 arrives August 10, and the redesigned babies are just one entry on a much longer list. Everything else still in the pipeline, from pets to pools, is laid out in the full Paralives roadmap.
