Prime Video just terrified fans with Invincible Season 4 Episode 6’s Conquest post credit scene only one episode after the grisly Invincible vs Conquest 2 fight.

Mark showed he had guts (literally) during the previous episode by taking on Conquest for a second time, and their brawl put him out of action for two months while he recovered on the strange alien planet. Omni-Man and Oliver spent Episode 6 trying to repair their bond as well as Mark, with the older Viltrumite training the young boy how to fight.

Ultimately, they managed to get Mark back on his feet thanks to a healthy dose of alien guts and plenty of bed rest. It was right on time too, because the trio then arrived to stop Thragg and the Viltrum Empire from razing the Coalition of Planets’ headquarters to the ground.

But after the explosive battle, Invincible Season 4 Episode 6’s Conquest post credit scene terrified fans with the idea that the brute wasn’t actually dead… Warning: spoilers ahead!

Invincible’s Conquest post credits scene “trolled” fans to make it look like the villain survived

After Mark, Oliver, and Omni-Man help save the Coalition of Planets (as well as uncovering the Viltrumite spy!) the Conquest post credits scene lingers on the Viltrumite’s grave on the alien planet. With foreboding music, the camera zooms in on Conquest’s final resting place, implying that he’s about to burst out of the ground after healing again…

Then, the episode just cuts back to the wide shot of the grave in complete silence – confirming that yes, Conquest really is dead and he isn’t coming back for round three. Phew. But fans were shocked that Invincible trolled them into thinking that it was deviating from the comics for a second.

Invincible Season 4 review: Bloody, brutal & brilliant

One Reddit user was confused as to whether Conquest is still alive, and other fans cleared up the scene writing: “It was a troll post credit lol he’s not coming back he’s dead.”

Another person added: “It was just a funny bit because storylines in Invincible tend to repeat with more absurdity so they were ‘hinting’ Conky was alive for a few seconds with the slow buildup and then pulled the rug.” On a separate post, another netizen praised the show, saying: “Haha, I’ve never seen a show like this before who plays with their viewers.”

Yes, Conquest is actually dead – just like in the comics

Just to clear it up, Invincible really did kill Conquest in the previous episode at the end of their fight, having choked him to death. This proves just how strong Mark is because he was able to keep his hands locked around the Viltrumite’s throat even while his opponent punched through his abdomen and pulled out his intestines.

This fight plays out exactly the same way in the comics, with Omni-Man and Oliver both nursing Mark back to health on the alien planet. Omni-Man even builds the exact same grave, although the comics don’t troll the reader to joke that the villain is still alive – which is why the Conquest post credits scene caught everyone off-guard.

While we wait to see how the war against the Viltrumites plays out, check out the soundtrack from Invincible Seasons 1-4, the Invincible TV show that’s now “lost media”, and what we know about a potential Invincible movie.
