Skybound Entertainment is bringing Invincible to the world of video games with their first in-house studio. Per Variety, Skybound Entertainment is set to launch their very first in-house video game studio in the form of Quarter Up.
The studio’s first project will be a 3v3 tag-team fighting game titled Invincible VS, set in the world of Amazon Prime Video’s explosive Invincible animated series based on Robert Kirkman’s Image comic book series of the same name.
Invincible VS is being billed as «a brutal tournament-quality 3v3 tag fighting game that lets players become a superhero in the bloodiest fight in the universe.» Currently. the game is set to feature a roster of fan-favorite Invincible characters, including Thula, Atom Eve, Bulletproof, and, of course, Invincible himself, Mark Grayson. Invincible VS will also offer players an expansive single-player story mode charted and written by the creative team behind the hit Amazon Prime Video series. As of the time of writing, Invincible VS is expected to arrive sometime in 2026.
Quarter Up is comprised of more than 40 developers from some of the biggest studios in the industry, including Activision Blizzard, Amazon Game Studios, Double Helix Games, Riot Games, Naughty Dog, and Netflix. Invincible VS executive producer Mike Willette, whose credits include 2013’s Killer Instinct from Double Helix Games, said of the project, «We’re hyper focused on this game right now.» Willett added, «We want this game to amaze people. We want them to fall in love with the characters and the world of Invincible. There’s so much rich lore and badass-ness that we just want people to get their chance to play with us.»
Skybound Games chief Chris Paulson said of the team at Quarter Up, «I think about our team as a group of fighting-game fans making games for the fighting-game community, and we’re trying to create a game that matches what people want.» Paulson went on to discuss Invincible VS specifically, noting that the title, «doesn’t have to be this huge game that costs $100, it can be something more focused. And so we don’t really think about double A or triple A or whatever, we think about making a game for an audience, and we’re playing the game with the people that are going to be fans.»
Based on Kirkman’s long-running comic book series of the same name, Invincible premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2021 to widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. The series features the voice of Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson, better known as Invincible, a budding teenage superhero who discovers his alien father’s secret agenda to take over the planet and enslave the Earth’s human population as part of the overtly violent Viltrum Empire’s ongoing expansion throughout the cosmos. Invincible is currently approaching its fourth season, set to be released on Amazon Prime Video sometime in early 2026.
