InZoi devs tell gamers to dismiss Steam Charts stats as The Sims competitor “continues to steadily generate sales”

Krafton’s The Sims competitor InZoi launched to a huge player count earlier this year, but the game’s concurrent user base has drastically dropped since launch.

At the time of writing, the game has a concurrent player base 98% lower than its peak, which many have claimed means the Early Access life simulator is nearing death’s door, despite its massive 2025 roadma.

Despite this, Krafton has urged gamers to dismiss the plummeting Steam numbers as it doesn’t tell the whole story. Instead, players should be focusing on the fact that the game is continuing to sell new copies despite the lower player numbers.

“inZOI continues to steadily generate sales, and as a single-player game, it would be most appropriate to refer to the additional sales count at each major update point as opposed to concurrent player count on Steam in measuring the game’s performance,” the game publisher said in a statement to IGN.

InZoi has not had a smooth ride after its successful launch. The game was released in early access with major issues, including a controversial bug that allowed players to run over virtual children. Additionally, the game has seen its major update and mod kit delayed.

Nevertheless, the core of InZoi is strong, and years of updates could turn this into a proper competitor to The Sims. On the other hand, another competitor, Paralives, is set to release later this year which could prove an issue for Krafton’s title depending on its quality.

In an interview with VideoGamer earlier this year, director, producer and CEO Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim revealed that the game was actually doing better than the studio expected despite the lower average concurrent player counts on Steam.

“I’m spending my days filled with gratitude for the player response, which has been far stronger than expected,” Kim said. “I see our players as more than just consumers—they are all part of ‘one team’, walking alongside us toward a shared vision. Their support and trust are the greatest driving forces that keep our development team going.”

Nevertheless, the past few months have been fairly quiet for InZoi. Hopefully, the game will continue to improve in both quality and player count as time goes on.
