Bridgerton Season 4 only just wrapped up, and viewers are already turning to what’s next. While the Netflix series is confirmed for Seasons 5 and 6, the latest instalment has sparked calls for a spinoff after a surprise return.
The period romance series is still flying high on the Netflix charts, sitting at #2 after Season 4 Part 2 landed on the streaming service on February 26. This chapter centered on the Cinderella-like love story between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
Following their happy ending, Bridgerton pulled a Marvel and included a post-credits scene with a satisfying payoff. At their ‘My Cottage’ refuge, they get married in front of their nearest and dearest.
In the crowd is Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Bridgerton (Simone Ashley), and the former gets to redeem himself after initially not approving of his brother’s relationship with Sophie. “Never listen to me again,” he says.
Is a Kanthony spinoff happening?
Following the return of Anthony and Kate, fans are now calling for a spinoff focused on the couple and their new baby, Edmund. But despite demand, there’s no indication from Netflix that this will happen – and the author of the Bridgerton books thinks it’s unlikely.

The pair were the focus of Season 2 of the Netflix series, before announcing that they were expecting in the third chapter. At that time, they decided to move to Kate’s home country India to introduce their child to her culture.
It’s for this reason fans are so delighted to see them with their son Edmund in the Season 4 post-credits scene. But their screen time is brief, and fans are wanting more.
This week, the Bridgerton Instagram account posted a cute video of Bailey and Ashley cooing over their on-set baby, leading to hopes of a Kanthony spinoff. As said by one, “We need a Kanthony spinoff!”

Bridgerton Season 4: Benedict revealed as new lead & everything else we know
“We deserve a spin-off just about these three, not just three measly scenes across the whole season,” wrote another, while a third added, “I need a spinoff, with their adventures in India.” And a fourth chimed in, “GIVE THESE A SPIN-OFF OF THEIR OWN.”

Sadly, Julia Quinn – who wrote the book series of the same name that the show is based on – doesn’t think it could happen due to the actors’ busy schedules. Ashley is currently involved in The Devil Wears Prada 2, while Bailey appeared in the Wicked movies.
Speaking to Us Weekly about Season 4, Quinn said, “People have to remember that Jonathan Bailey is pretty busy and Simone Ashley has an incredible career. I’m just so grateful that the actors are making time to do this.
“With all the actors’ schedules, it’s just impossible to get them there for a complete season. The scenes that they are in are absolutely delightful so I’m thrilled. I think Kate and Anthony fans will be thrilled when they see them.”
As for a spinoff, she explained, “I’m like, ‘Can we just spin off with them in India?’ Yeah, that’s not going to happen, I’m afraid. Not after we had Wicked and all this stuff. I think they’re not going to commit to a TV show.”
Bridgerton producer reveals plans for spinoffs

Netflix
But don’t fret, gentle readers, as Seasons 5 and 6 have been confirmed, centering on Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie). What’s more, executive producer Tom Verica shared earlier this year that there are plans for future spinoffs.
It shouldn’t be surprising given how much a success Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story turned out to be. Although he couldn’t share any more details, he did say the other potential projects will be focused on characters fans are “invested” in.
“Queen Charlotte, we thoroughly enjoyed that experience. It was more of a smaller look at a particular love story that spanned over those episodes, and I think we kind of caught something that people really responded to,” Verica told Deadline.
“So we are in talks of some other projects and hopefully, something, some news, something will be coming out at some point. Hopefully.”

When asked for further details, he explained, “I’ll say this, there have been characters that you have met before, ones that you were invested in.
“But again, we’re talking about different possibilities and, the great thing about having a cast this size is, there’s a lot of stories to dive into, but the particular ones we’re talking about, it’s going to be really, really enjoyable.”
