Netflix’s French crime dramedy Cash Queens (Les Lionnes) dropped today, February 5, 2026, and the cliffhanger ending only hints at a renewal. While Netflix has not officially confirmed a renewal, the ending and post-credit scene clearly keep the door open.
Sofia’s husband, Oualid, is a character previously assumed to be dead or permanently out of the picture. Earlier in the season, he had recognized Sofia in surveillance footage from the robberies because of her limp walk. He revealed she has the Right Achilles Tendon, must have skipped physiotherapy. He attempted to blackmail her by demanding 300K or else he’d tell her brother Malik, who is a cop. Later, in the hotel room, during their encounter, Oualid recognises them all and threatens to expose the group.
However, his plan failed in a darkly comic way when he slipped on his own urine, hit his head, and was hospitalized. The ladies put him in the suitcase, which went through the check-in area, but we never found out whether he was alive. In the post-credit scene, he was seen alive and boarding his flight to Marseille. This reveals matters by confirming that someone outside the core group still knows the truth about the Cash Queens, potentially playing a big part in season 2.
What Happened at the End of Cash Queens Season 1?

Cash Queens Season 1 ends on a morally complex note rather than a clean ending. The women pull off the final heist, burn the cocaine, and outsmart both the police and the mob. But survival comes at a cost.
Alex is badly injured after the shootout, and her survival is left uncertain. Kim sacrifices herself to give the others a chance to escape and takes Alex to the hospital. But during the chase, three women came across the police checkpoint. Kim ran over the checkpoint. Malik crashes during the pursuit. Along with Chloé, he was seen bleeding and unconscious inside the damaged car. Meanwhile, Rosalie, aware that her name is already on the police radar, stops her car and faces arrest alone, giving time for the others to escape.
Then comes the post-credit scene. It reveals that Sofia’s husband is alive, despite earlier assumptions. That single scene reframes the ending. The story may look finished, but the danger is not.
What to Expect From Cash Queens Season 2

If Cash Queens were renewed, Season 2 would likely shift the storyline from bank robberies to consequences. If renewed, Season 2 would likely shift focus from heists to consequences. Rosalie’s legal battle, Sofia’s family at risk, Alex’s recovery, and the threat posed by Sofia’s husband could drive the story forward. Moreover, Rosa is pregnant with her husband Simon’s child. She’d likely keep it now that Simon is dead.
Malik will likely survive, given the importance of his role as a cop. Cholé’s fate is unknown. There’s a fifty-fifty chance that Chloé and Alex will come back as one of the members of the Cash Queens. And Sofia’s husband is a loose cannon with a motive to expose everything.
Given Olivier Rosemberg’s work on Family Business, which ran for three seasons, a Cash Queen season 2 is highly likely. However, Netflix will likely wait to see completion rates and global performance over the next few weeks. Still, the deliberate post-credit hook strongly suggests there’s more.
