In his interview, Barlog highlighted that the story of Kratos and Faye meeting must carry weight, since we now know they will not stay together. The Santa Monica Studio’s creative director further expanded on the mindset of the characters when they first meet:
They’re both warriors who have reached a point in their lives where they don’t want to fight anymore because they both see through the reasons why they’ve been fighting. Meeting at that time and at that exact moment when both of them are willing to set their weapons down fundamentally changes both of them.
Barlog highlighted that Faye has already had an enormous impact on the game’s universe. She’s a powerful, mythological character, and he wants to do justice to that.
I hope, I don’t know how we’re going to tell this or when we’re going to tell this but I really want to tell that story of Faye and Kratos.
Well, if the rumors and leaks are to be believed, the 50-year-old has his opportunity to do so, six years after this pitch.

As soon as the leaks and rumor mills started for this God of War spinoff, several things have been claimed. Per gaming industry insiders, the spinoff will be heavily action-oriented (via Sportskeeda).
If this turns out to be the case, then Barlog’s original vision might’ve been compromised over the years. However, considering it’s God of War, the selling point has to be action.
We know that Faye was a Frost Giant possessing the power of foresight; this will make the new game’s combat entirely different from God of War and God of War Ragnarök. The weight of each move that we’ve now become accustomed to will be shifted to agility and Godlike powers.
