It’s 25 years since the world was first introduced to The Sims. 25 years! Can you believe it? I was a mere eleven year old when I first dived into the God simulator that was unlike anything else I’d ever played — and I’ve loved it pretty much ever since. The game has come a long way since that first iteration, with The Sims 4 still going strong after a decade. But if you want to go back to where it all started, you can: The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle brings back The Sims and The Sims 2, updated for modern PCs.
That’s right: The Sims and The Sims 2 are readily playable again, optimised for Windows 10 and 11 PCs. These aren’t remasters, it must be said, but they do bundle in all DLC. The games can be purchased separately or together as the Birthday Bundle.
Are you ready? *Takes a deep breath*. The Sims: Legacy Collection includes the base game and the following expansions:
- Livin’ Large
- House Party
- Hot Date
- Vacation
- Unleashed
- Superstar
- Makin’ Magic
- Throwback Fit Kit
Phew. And here’s everything included in The Sims 2: Legacy Collection:
- University
- Nightlife
- Open for Business
- Pets
- Bon Voyage
- Seasons
- FreeTime
- Apartment Life
- Holiday Party Pack
- Family Fun Stuff
- Glamour Life Stuff
- Happy Holiday Stuff
- Celebration! Stuff
- H&M Fashion Stuff
- Teen Style Stuff
- Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff
- Mansion & Garden Stuff
- Grunge Revival Kit
If you want to buy the bundle, including everything above, it’ll cost you $39.99 or your local equivalent. That’s an absolute bargain if you ask me. The Sims: Legacy Collection alone will set you back $19.99, while The Sims 2: Legacy Collection costs $29.99. They’re available via EA, Epic Games Store and Steam.
But that’s not all that EA are rolling out to celebrate The Sims’ 25th birthday. A 25-hour livestream kicks off this evening, with a full line-up of celebrities and well-known community members, headlined by Doja Cat. More information about that can be found on the official Sims website.
And if you’d rather stick with the more modern The Sims 4, you can still enjoy a blast from the past thanks to a free update. Over the next four weeks, free items inspired by older Sims games will become available, so it’s worth logging in regularly to claim them.
