The DC live action universe has been given a second chance, and, while we’ve only seen Creature Commandos as of now, the trailer for the upcoming Superman movie looks like it’s everything fans want it to be. The hopeful disposition, familiar theme, and Krypto have all resonated with fans.
While we’ve also gotten a look at Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and Lex Luthor, it’s still unclear what the plot will be and who the big baddie of the movie will be. Of course, Luthor is Superman’s nemesis, but he usually works behind the scenes and gets someone to fight Superman. However, it seems James Gunn may have leaked that Lex is going to do things himself this time.
James Gunn Might Have Accidentally Revealed Lex Luthor's Iconic Super Suit
As spotted by GamesRadar, James Gunn wished Mister Terrific actor Edi Gathegi a happy birthday via a Tweet, along with a picture of both of them on set. While the image looks pretty straightforward – Gunn giving Gathegi some direction, with other cast and crew members around, the background hides something pretty interesting.
Zooming in really close reveals, right below the second umbrella, shows what looks like a suit of green and purple armour. For those of you who aren’t well versed on Superman lore, when Luthor wants to go up against Supes himself, he puts on a green and purple high-tech suit of armour with kryptonite-powered weapons. We’ve seen this quite a few times in the comics and animated adaptations.
The suit is especially designed to fight against Superman, so it boasts a number of weapons that are powered by kryptonite. We’ve even seen Luthor wield a kryptonite spear while in this suit.
Of course, we can’t be 100 percent sure that this is indeed the same suit, as it’s quite far away, and it’s quite blurry when zoomed in. It could be one of the soldiers we’ve seen in the trailer or something else entirely. However, it would be cool if we finally got to see live action Luthor and Superman going at it against each other.
