A Japanese indie developer released a free game where players can spank his digital butt as an apology after his unusual horror game Spanking Exorcist missed its planned Steam launch.
Created by solo developer Actor, Spanking Exorcist is a comedy horror game that casts players as Ioto Shirihataki, an exorcist sent to clear the haunted Peach Butt Housing Complex.
The building is inhabited by the spirits of housewives whose lingering desire is to be “spanked as hard as possible.” Players must find and exorcise them while avoiding more dangerous spirits that are less receptive to Shirihataki’s unconventional methods.
Spanking Exorcist was originally scheduled to launch on July 24, but Actor announced shortly before release that its Steam review had still not been completed. The developer said he had spent roughly a month discussing whether parts of the game were too sexual for the platform.

Developer turned the delay into a playable punishment
Rather than settling for a written apology, Actor created an entirely separate game allowing disappointed players to punish him for the delay.
The free Windows game is titled A Game Where You Can Spank Actor and was distributed through a Google Drive link posted on the developer’s X account.
The game consists of a single apology screen featuring a cartoon representation of Actor’s butt beneath his profile icon. Pressing a flashing red button labeled “Spank that butt!” causes it to jiggle alongside a slapping sound effect.
It also includes a direct link to Spanking Exorcist’s Steam page, ensuring players are reminded exactly why they are spanking the developer in the first place.

Fortunately for Actor, the punishment did not need to continue for long. He announced on July 30 that Spanking Exorcist had passed Steam’s review, allowing the full game to launch six days after its original release date.
The game is now available on Steam for $5.99, with a 10% launch discount temporarily reducing the price to $5.39.
