Alright, so the moment I saw the title ‘Cog’, I knew that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 6 was about to take the emotional baggage of Yuji Itadori and turn it into a plot point – and I was ready for it. This episode is not just wondering whether or not Yuji is okay with being a cog – it asks whether that mindset is powerful enough to drag the entire Culling Game in a new direction.
The thing that has surprised me the most about Episode 6 is how little it actually has to do with “winning” – this one is all about endurance, leverage, and proving that you cannot be ignored. Moreover, it suggests that being beaten to the brink of death is actually a valid strategy. Let us explore in detail.
JJK Turns Megumi and Kirara’s Tactical Clash Into a Visual Flex
Before Yuji’s emotional endurance test even begins, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 6 begins with Megumi and Panda trying to quietly prevent Yuji’s encounter with Hakari from going off the rails. Of course, it goes off the rails anyway – thanks to Kirara, and I actually enjoyed this entire sequence much more than I thought I would.

Megumi’s clash with Kirara was not flashy in the traditional sense, but it was sharp, smooth, and very confident in its execution. Kirara’s constellation-based technique is less about raw power and more about battlefield control, and the animation perfectly captures that. The way characters are repelled, redirected, and stalled feels smooth and intentional, rather than just random chaos.
Meanwhile, Megumi is not trying to force his way through anything here – he watches, thinks, tests, and adapts. Moreover, the sound effects were quietly reinforcing that tension – it gets too soft when he was observing, and sharp when a realization hit. Thus, when Megumi finally does figure out Kirara’s trick, it feels earned.
Even then, the episode does not give him an easy victory, which is just perfect for Jujutsu Kaisen – understanding the rules does not mean you control the outcome. It just means you survive long enough to keep playing.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji’s “Cog” Fever Brings Hakari Into Culling Game
Now, let us talk about the part that hit me emotionally. In Episode 5’s ending, we saw Hakari accuse Yuji of being a Jujutsu High spy and immediately engage in hand-to-hand combat. No surprise there, as Episode 6 follows from there. However, what did surprise me was Yuji’s response. He does not try to reason with Hakari. He does not fight back. He simply takes it – again and again.

As I watched this, I understood that Yuji is not trying to convince Hakari with words or fists. He was trying to show him something that Hakari very clearly understands – fever. Hakari is a gambler – he admires obsession, recklessness, and people willing to bet everything. Yuji, who lets himself be beaten down but still gets back up, is kind of that bet.
Thus, at some point, it stopped feeling uncomfortable and began to feel inevitable. Hakari does not finally break because Yuji is strong – he breaks because Yuji refuses to stop. That is the “cog” mindset in its purest form, and finally, Hakari agrees to listen and cooperate with Yuji, Megumi, and Panda.
And just when it seems like progress has been made, Yuji’s Kogane announces a new rule introduced by Hajime Kashimo, and the episode ends with that.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 6 Final Verdict
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 6 proves that when you push determination far enough, it becomes leverage. It pulls Hakari into the Culling Game, destabilizes the power balance, and sets the stage for even worse chaos.

In terms of animation, pacing, and audio, this episode is as subtle as it gets, and in the best possible way. Every impact resonates, and every moment of quiet actually gets counted.
Although this might not be the most action-packed episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, it could very well be the most important one. It re-establishes Yuji’s position, locks Hakari into place, and reminds us that in the Culling Game, the most terrifying thing is not power – it is someone who refuses to stop.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
