KFC workers have gone viral after leaving TikTokers confused by what they were getting up to in the drive-thru of a store. However, its since been explained.
While drive-thru’s at fast food restaurants can be a massive time saver, there are times when you’ll end up waiting for quite a while. Being asked to pull over and that someone will bring your order out can be a heart-sinking moment.
Those drive-thru operators do also have standards and times to uphold, which means you may see some things that somewhat game the system.
In the case of TikToker moments.r.precious, they were left confused when they spotted a KFC worker in Compton sticking a pole out the drive-thru window and tapping the ground.
Drive-thru workers use stick to trick system
The clip has since gotten over 8 million views, with the TikToker believing it was a “coin scooper” at first, with the workers cleaning up any loose change that may have fell between themselves and the customer.
However, others have explained what was actually going on. “As someone who works in fast food, here’s the explanation: there is a sensor underneath the concrete which senses cars when they approach and stop at the windows. We have a short timer (ranging from 3-5 minutes) to get your food out,” one explained.
“If our times are bad (orders taking longer than designated time set) we get in trouble and can get privileges taken away. THAT device helps us because we trigger the sensor and trick the system into thinking the car drove off, so our times will be normal.”
Others chimed in saying they have similar devices at their local stores. “My kfc does this too,” one said. “The Burger King where I live used to do this until my sister complained about it,” another commented.
