Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter hints at a future for her character in Daredevil: Born Again.
Ritter recently shared a photo of Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox on her Instagram reading her book. As innocuous as this might be otherwise, some fans have taken it as a sign that the former is spending so much time with the latter thanks to an appearance in the second season of the hit MCU series, which is currently in production.
Fans’ suspicions have only been emboldened by Marvel head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum’s previous statements, which also hinted at a return of the rest of the Netflix Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again. «I can’t say much, but I’ll tell you that it’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book,» Winderbaum said back in February. «If you can draw it, you can do it. It’s dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.»
Will Krysten Ritter Return as Jessica Jones?
Krysten Ritter starred as the titular antihero of Netflix’s Jessica Jones for all 39 episodes of the series’ three-season run, as well as for numerous appearances across the streaming giant’s other MCU-set shows in their Defenders line of titles. Jessica Jones was the second of Netflix’s Marvel series after Daredevil premiered in 2015, and helped pave the way for future shows like 2016’s Luke Cage and the 2017 crossover series, The Defenders. While Marvel Studios’ recently released Daredevil: Born Again has marked something of a return to form for the character and his particular slice of the MCU, Charlie Cox’s titular Man Without Fear is the only leading Netflix hero to have made a full-fledged MCU comeback so far.
Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+ on March 4 to primarily rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The series is currently in production on its second season, which fans have seen glimpses of thanks to various behind-the-scenes photos from the set. These include shots of Charlie Cox and Wilson Bethel in new versions of their respective Daredevil and Bullseye costumes, ensuring that there will be plenty of brutal fight sequences to come when Season 2 arrives. It was also confirmed that Elden Henson will be returning to reprise his role as Franklin «Foggy» Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, although it is unclear whether this will only come in the form of flashbacks considering the character’s tragic demise was what kicked off the events of Season 1.
Daredevil: Born Again and Jessica Jones are both available for streaming now on Disney+.
