Monarch: Legacy of Monsters sees Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell play the same characters in different periods of his life, and it sounds like a future episode will see both old and young Lee Shaw share the screen.
Wyatt Russell made cameos in several of his dad Kurt’s films when he was a kid, including Overboard, Escape From LA, and Soldier.
Now thanks to Apple series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters unfolding in multiple time periods, they are able to play the same character at different points in his life.
Wyatt plays young Lee Shaw, a US army colonel who goes hunting for titans in the 1950s, while Kurt plays old Lee Shaw, who starts the series being kept under house arrest by the shady Monarch corporation.

Time travel has become part of the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters story, meaning characters can move back and forth in the narrative’s timeline.
After an Empire screening of Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 2 in London last night, Kurt spoke about how exciting things are afoot for Lee Shaw.
Russell senior explained: “In this second season… we tried something in the first season where we actually sort of – in a sci-fi way – we got to work with each other, and it was very impactful. Too impactful as a matter of fact, but if you can do that, why not, it just takes it off in all different directions.

Of sharing the screen with his son, Kurt says: “That’s the number one want for me. We started talking about that and they were able to find a way that we do some pretty interesting things in Episode 7 and 10…”

The host then finished his sentence with “…to be potentially in the same space.”
“That’s a good way of putting it,” responded Kurt. They then leave the subject to avoid spoilers, but the interaction suggests that someway, somehow, Lee Shaw will crossover with himself at the end of Season 2.
