Review
While Ghosts season 5 has a lot of plots to cover and characters to , season 4, episode 21 set up one cameo that the CBS sitcom must through. The ghosts of CBS’s Ghosts might be the show’s true heroes, but the series still deserves credit for its great taste in guest stars. Season 4 alone saw Brooklyn 99’s Joe Lo Truglio appear as an amoral restaurant critic, Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris show up as Sam’s estranged father Frank, and Mary Holland steal the first three episodes as Patience the Puritan ghost.
Although Patience may exit Ghosts in the upcoming season 4 finale, it was another new character who set up what could be season 5’s best celebrity cameo. In season 4, episode 21, “Kyle,” Ben Feldman’s eponymous new character Kyle revealed he shared Sam’s curse/ blessing. Like Rose McIver’s heroine, Kyle was able to see, hear, and talk to ghosts thanks to a near-death experience earlier in his life. While describing his experience, he referenced a ‘90s icon who now needs to show up in a future episode of the series.
Ghosts Season 4, Episode 21 Hints 90s Icon Fabio May Be Able To See Spirits
The Legendary Male Model Shared Kyle’s Accident
As Jay grew jealous of Kyle in Ghosts season 4’s darkest storyline, Feldman’s character told Sam that he gained the ability to see ghosts when a bird knocked him out while he was riding a roller coaster. Sam noted that the same thing happened to Fabio, the mononymous model and actor most notable for appearing on innumerable romance novel covers throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. Full name Fabio Lanzoni, Fabio played himself in numerous comedy movies such as Spy Hard, Zoolander, and Dude Where’s My Car.
Fabio rode the Apollo’s Chariot rollercoaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 1999 and, in an unfortunate but hilarious accident, a goose seemingly slammed into Fabio’s face while he rode the roller coaster
Known for his rugged good looks and self-aware sense of humor, Fabio transitioned from modeling to comic acting during the ‘00s. However, the moment that “Kyle” mentioned came shortly before this. Fabio rode the Apollo’s Chariot rollercoaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 1999 and, in an unfortunate but hilarious accident, a goose seemingly slammed into Fabio’s face while he rode the roller coaster. Years after the incident, Fabio explained to The Morning Show that he was actually hit by a piece of shrapnel when a goose hit a nearby camera, but the “Goose incident” remains frequently misremembered in pop culture.
Fabio Having A Cameo In Ghosts Season 5 Would Be A Great Pay Off
Fabio’s Potential Cameo Was Subtly Set Up In Season 4 Episode 21
Since Fabio was supposedly hit by a bird while on a roller coaster in real life which, in the show, led Kyle to see ghosts, Sam makes the reasonable assumption that Fabio may also share their ability to communicate with the dead. While Ghosts season 4’s supporting character and guest stars are already plentiful, it seems obvious that Ghosts season 5 now needs to bring Fabio in for a cameo where the famous sex symbol proves he can see ghosts too.
Fabio’s Possible Ghosts Season 5 Cameo Would Be Perfect For One Spirit
Trevor’s Obsession With ‘90s Pop Culture Makes Fabio’s Potential Cameo Ideal
Not only would Fabio’s arrival at the mansion be a funny payoff, but Ghosts season 4 has already set this revelation up in earlier episodes. Trevor’s obsession with all things ’90s pop culture means he surely idolizes Fabio, and he would no doubt be thrilled by the star’s arrival at the Woodstone Mansion. Much like he insisted on Tara Reid’s presence at his memorial, Ghosts season 4’s underrated hero Trevor should use his ability to type to convince Fabio to visit the show’s location.
This would allow season 5 to confirm whether Sam’s thesis was correct, and could be a hilarious way to pay off a throwaway line from “Kyle.” On a slightly more serious note, confirming that Fabio can see ghosts could comfort Sam, who believes herself to be one of only two people with this ability. Thus, Ghosts season 5 could turn a goofy pop culture reference into a surprisingly sweet cameo role from the ‘00s pop culture icon.
