The iconic 2001 Reese Witherspoon comedy, Legally Blonde, pulls ahead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on streaming.
Per FlixPatrol, the hit 24-year-old comedy Legally Blonde took the #3 spot on Peacock’s top 10 most streamed shows in the United States as of July 5, 2025. This puts the film ahead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom despite the recent release of Jurassic World Rebirth. The 2018 Jurassic World film quickly became a streaming hit, but in a huge upset, has been beaten out by the comedy. Considered one of the staple films of the 2000s, the legal comedy follows Witherspoon as sorority girl turned Harvard student Elle Woods and her initial mission to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner Huntington III (played by Mathew Davis). Currently, just ahead of Legally Blonde sits Despicable Me 3 at #2 and The Woman in the Yard at #1.
Elle Woods, a sorority girl, Hawaiian Tropic girl, and natural blonde, is left devastated when her boyfriend breaks up with her because, in her words, she’s «too blonde.» This prompts her to successfully enroll into Harvard Law School in order to win him back. On its release, the film was a huge hit, earning $142 million globally on an $18 million budget. The film has 72% on both the Tomatometer and the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.
Alongside Witherspoon, the film features other iconic performances, such as Selma Blair as Vivian Kensington, Warner’s new fiancée, Luke Wilson as Emmett Richmond, lawyer and love interest to Elle, and Jennifer Coolidge, who was recently celebrated for her work in The White Lotus, as the hilarious nail technician Paulette Bonafonté. Additional cast members include Ali Larter, Alanna Ubach, Osgood Perkins, Bruce Thomas, Meredith Scott Lynn, Victor Garber, Lacey Beeman, Holland Taylor, Jessica Cauffiel, and Linda Cardellini.
