Lego
A brand new retro Lego set has officially been revealed, this time bringing the classic Sega Genesis to a shelf or display case near you.
Whether it’s building sets from your favorite games, representing the best characters in a franchise, or just showcasing the classic video game consoles you grew up with, gaming-inspired Lego sets are probably some of the most popular and widespread in the market right now.
So, to complement that, following the beloved addition of the Game Boy set, Lego has revealed a brand new retro design, the Sega Genesis set, complete with controllers, a game cartridge, and of course, the iconic console design.
Lego Retro Sega Genesis console bigger and cheaper than Game Boy
The Retro Sega Genesis Lego set officially brings the iconic original Sega console to life, and can be turned into either the Sega Genesis or Sega Mega Drive console, depending on what you grew up with, or prefer the look of.

What’s more, it’s actually bigger and cheaper than the Game Boy, Lego’s other official Retro console set. Now, the Genesis will contain 479 pieces and comes in at $39.99 (considerably cheaper than the console itself). For context, the Game Boy has 421 pieces and costs £59.99.
As mentioned above, the kit will come with two detachable controllers, a removable game card (which displays Sonic and Tails), a Sonic portrait in the form of a little console easter egg, and, of course, the changeable Genesis to Mega Drive signs to go on the console itself.
It’s set to release on June 1, 2026, so fans of the retro console won’t have too long to wait until they can build it and display it (hopefully with their copy of the real Sega Genesis or Mega Drive).
