Louisiana Men Get Into Heated Street Argument After American Flag Sparks Confrontation: ‘What Even Is This Video?’

The not-so United States of America

With Independence Day fast approaching, the American flag is being displayed more often than usual. However, not everyone is happy to see the patriotic displays. A group of men got into a heated argument on the streets of Louisiana in what appears to be a controversy around the flag.

A video clip appears to show two men walking around Bourbon Street, waving American flags and singing “Born in the USA,” when a third person confronted them. It’s important to note that the clip starts during the argument, so even though it seems the third individual was offended by the American flag, it’s possible that the discussion began over something else. That said, by the time the third man walked away, the other two were more patriotic than ever, singing and waving their flags after him.

Many people seem to be siding with the individual who was not waving the flag. As one Redditor wrote, “What are those dudes even celebrating?” Another expressed, “Certain Americans get triggered over something as simple as a rainbow flag. It only makes sense that others would be triggered by the American flag.” Others pointed out the irony of the men with the American flag singing Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA,” as it is widely regarded as a protest song intended to sound like a patriotic anthem.

On the other side of the debate, someone pointed out, “It is pretty silly to get upset at seeing the flag of the country you are in.” Others seemed to think that everyone in the clip was in the wrong, writing sentiments such as, “Everyone is triggered,” and “What even is this video?

As of the time of writing, none of the men who appeared in the clip has publicly commented on the incident or provided additional information.
