Love Island USA season 7’s Yulissa Escobar has been working hard to get back into the good graces of the show’s fans after being removed from the series for racially insensitive behavior, but in her attempts to apologize, she’s been facing some serious fan backlash. While Yulissa believed that Love Island USA season 7 would give her a platform to find love and further her career, it quickly became clear that her once-in-a-lifetime dream was more of a nightmare. After videos of Yulissa using inappropriate racially insensitive language surfaced, she was swiftly removed from the Love Island USA villa.
While Yulissa has been attempting to apologize for her past behavior to Love Island USA fans through a statement on Instagram, viewers haven’t been responding well to her apology. With the apology itself not taking much accountability and sharing that Yulissa is sorry «to those who are disappointed or offended,» fans have been understandably underwhelmed. «You used it confidently and you are not forgiven,» @777lesaint commented, while @ohmy_miriam shared, «You’re sorry you got caught.» With many comments from black Love Island USA fans explaining that non-black people in the comments shouldn’t be accepting Yulissa’s apology, it’s clear she missed the mark.
