Magic: The Gathering loves a good Willy Wonka-style treasure hunt, and various sets have included serialized cards in the past. One of the most famous examples of this was The One Ring in the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth crossover back in 2023, which was a one-of-a-kind card that ended up being sold to Post Malone for a whopping $2.6 million.

Due to the nature of them being extremely limited, serialized cards are often some of the most expensive cards you can pull, and the upcoming Final Fantasy crossover set is going to have a serialized run of cards of its very own.

MTG's Final Fantasy Set Will Feature 77 Serialized Golden Foil Chocobo Cards

With this set being Final Fantasy, there will be a decent number of Chocobos in there, given that it’s arguably the mascot of the series next to Moogles and Tifa’s adventures in Italy. However, there will be the chance for you to pull a golden foil version of the Traveling Chocobo card, of which there will only be 77 in existence.

That will likely make this one of the most valuable cards in the whole set, and if you want the chance to add one of these to your collection, you’ll need to know how to grab it. It was also confirmed that the only place you’ll have the chance of pulling one of these is in an English Collector booster, as they won’t be included in the Japanese versions. Not a problem for many of you reading, but something to keep in mind if you thought you could game the system with Japanese boosters instead.

Then again, getting your hands on any of these cards may prove a challenge, as despite the MTG’s Final Fantasy set not launching until June 13, it’s already on course to be the best-selling MTG product that Wizards of the Coast has ever released. More people than ever are eager to get their hands on some MTG cards, which means there will be more competition for those Chocobos.
