A man in Maryland was arrested after he reported that his car had been stolen, and police linked him to a robbery that had actually just occurred.
If you’re going to commit a crime, there are some golden rules to abide by. You don’t return to the scene of your crime, and if you get caught, you better be prepared to do the time. Some criminals do fail to follow those rules and it leaves them in a whole heap of trouble.
However, for 29-year-old Jalen Godard, he had to call upon the police shortly after his car had been stolen. Police met Godard outside of a 7-Eleven at 5:44 am, which came a few minutes after they’d responded to a break-in at a nearby Verizon store.
The 29-year-old told police that he’d been at McDonald’s, but officers noticed that he had blood on his hands – matching blood at the Verizon store.
Police tell man it’s “karma” after his car is stolen
“Don’t you hate it when your car gets stolen while you’re committing a burglary?” the Howard County Police Department posted on X, alongside bodycam footage of the arrest.
In that footage, one officer told Godard that it was “some kind of karma” for the alleged burglary. “I left the keys in,” the 29-year-old said. “Yeah, that’s some karma right there, dude,” one officer responded.
As per Fox 5 DC, Godard was charged with burglary, theft, and destruction of property.

However, as it stands, there is no word on who stole his car, with details about the suspect not being revealed.
Some social media users saw the funny side of the officer telling Godard that it was “karma,” with many calling it “good work” as well.
