A man in China says he’s made $23,000 looking after cats for a month, with him having to feed up to 55 cats in just one day.
Whenever you’re going on holiday, or leaving the country for a little bit, getting care for your pets can be a big task. You might be lucky enough to have family close by who will help, but if not, you’ll have to fork out for a pet sitter.
Getting a pet sitter or having to leave your fluffy child in kennels or a cattery, can be a pretty big expense. However, if you’re on the other side of that, it’s a good chance to bring in a little bit of cash.
In the case of Huan Cong, from Shanghai, China, he made $23,000 during the Lunar New Year celebrations, as he cared for 1000 cats just by himself.

As per the South China Morning Post, Cong has been running his cat-sitting business for almost a decade, and rake in the massive money this year after not changing his prices. He and his four other employees stayed in Shanghai during the holiday celebrations this year.
While he’s made in a month what some people make in a year, it did come at a high cost. He told the paper that he averaged around three hours of sleep per night for the month, and had to look after 55 cats on his busiest day.
“Last Spring Festival, we served 270 households, but this year the number has increased to 320 households, an 18 per cent rise. By the end of the holiday, we expect growth of around 25 per cent, with revenue from cat-feeding services alone estimated to reach 160,000 yuan,” he told them.

Cong’s earnings are not the only animal-related going viral at the moment. Punch, the baby monkey, has attracted internet stardom after being abandoned by his mother at a zoo.
