If you’re a fan of Iron Lung, David Szymanski’s unique and deeply claustrophobic horror game, you’ll be happy to hear that, after getting a US release date, Markiplier’s movie-of-the-game is now surfacing in UK and Australian cinemas.
If you’ve not played Iron Lung (and you’re missing out if you haven’t) it features a prisoner, who is sealed into a rickety submarine and sent into an ocean of blood. Why? Because all the stars and habitable planets in the universe have disappeared, and the survivors are desperate for resources.
Streamer Markiplier was so taken with the game that he adapted it into a movie, which he also stars in. The fact it largely takes place in a single location – inside the sub – no doubt helped keep the budget down. It was announced for a January 30th release, at between 50-100 US movie theatres, but interest in the movie has driven that up to over 2,000 theatres.
Now, Cineworld has announced it’s bringing the film to UK cinemas, and you can book tickets here. You’ll also be able to catch the Iron Lung movie from January 29th. However, there are multiple showings on subsequent days, so you don’t have to be there for the first showing.
We’ve checked other British chains, but it appears that it’s just Cineworld showing the film in the UK. As for Australia, Event Cinemas are handling Iron Lung, and you can book your tickets here. After its initial release we’d expect the Iron Lung movie, which runs for just over two hours, to hit digital.
