Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update brought tons of new content and vital updates, cementing the game’s dynamic hero-shooter appeal. Ultron, a new Strategist hero, headlines the patch, which also includes the vivid Hellfire Gala: Arakko convoy map and Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol, a limited-time autochess mode.
Players may also access the Combat Chest mini pass, which unlocks rare cosmetics like Emma Frost and Binary Hawkeye skins through events and Twitch Drops. The meta has been shaken up by hero balancing changes, including boosts like Luna Snow’s 15% healing boost and new abilities like Hawkeye’s Ice Arrow and Storm’s Shark Surge, while tournament mode has improved spectator tools and server improvements.
Among the changes, NetEase addressed persisting hitbox issues, that has caused a debate among the player base. Many players, used to the forgiving hitboxes, are now demanding devs to return to the less accurate hitboxes, claiming that the increased precision requires too much skill. Here’s what they experienced after the latest update.
Marvel Rivals fans want devs to bring back older hitboxes as new update makes them “too accurate”
Marvel Rivals players like UrsaRizz on Reddit shared a gameplay clip of how hitboxes in Season 2.5 are being “way too accurate” for players to shoot at. In the clip, the player uses Luna Snow to shoot a snowball towards Spider-Man who dodges it perfectly, almost missing the incoming shot.
However, upon closer examination in slow motion and from a different angle, the shot nearly touches Spider-Man’s head, and it did not register, thus proving that NetEase has made hitboxes much tighter and closer to the character.
Players who saw the video related to similar instances during their game, notably commenting how this issue is causing them to miss shots that they used to hit more frequently, and how the skill ceiling has been raised with this update.
One such player wrote, “These kinds of hitbox interactions are cool for single player games, but not for comp PvP shooters, especially over the internet. That said, the most troubling part is that it’s just not consistent across characters and abilities. This game is fun, but it’s also a huge mess.”
Another chimed in, “Yeah, as dope as that was, the snowball should’ve hit. There’s no way the hit boxes are that clean/tight on all the models and projectiles.” While the latest season has brought several new fixes, another patch is inbound that fixes numerous hero abilities and glitches, alongside the return of fan-favorite skins.
