She’ll never return

A woman in Boston, Massachusetts, gave a very positive review of a coffee shop that went viral online. While some could expect gratitude, which, on a surface level, she definitely got, the woman was met with behind-the-scenes trash talk. Apparently, one of the coffee shop’s employees said she ate like a “pig.”

TikToker Abby Rose shared the coffee shop trash-talking story online. Her content revolves around food reviews and fashion, as well as the occasional travel vlogs. With several viral clips under her belt, the clip attached above became one of her biggest recent posts, garnering 757,000 views, 48,400 likes, and more than 500 comments.
The Massachusetts woman said that she had been “trask-talked” by a coffee shop she had previously reviewed. The coffee shop in question is Muffin House Cafe in Mendon, a place Abby reviewed on June 11 and that went viral, garnering close to 100,000 views. Those are huge numbers for both parties, especially because the coffee shop has 1476 TikTok followers as of the writing of this article.
“I’m so happy to be supporting this local business,” Abby explained. “That’s what I love to do. I love to support these local businesses.”
‘She Eats Like A Pig’
However, Abby would then get a random email from an anonymous source. Attached were multiple screenshots from a Muffin House Cafe group chat, which, according to her, had their manager in it. And although she only shared one of the messages, it was more than enough to understand her anger.
“She eats like a pig, using her teeth to open everything. No manners. But glad she enjoyed,” the text message said. This referred to Abby opening two ketchup packets with her teeth while eating a breakfast burrito. The woman said, “I am so beyond disrespected.”
Worst of all, this same attitude has repeated itself multiple times, the Massachusetts woman said. Apparently, she had been trash-talked every single time she visited Muffin House Cafe, although she didn’t share additional information detailed in the email directly.
“Are you kidding me? This is so disrespectful and so unprofessional in so many ways,” she said. “[…] I did reach out to the owner, and hopefully, he responds to me soon, because I would love to talk to him, because this is beyond unprofessional. And if your employees are doing this, it’s unacceptable.”
Apology, Reaction
In a follow-up clip, Abby detailed that the coffee shop owners reached out to her. They were, in her own words, “beyond receptive and beyond apologetic.” Publicly, the coffee shop also responded to Abby’s clip, in which they detailed that they would be investigating the issue and taking action.
“We want to ensure the community that there is an internal investigation happening and the proper repercussions will be taken to the individuals involved,” the coffee shop said. “We would like to express our sincerest apologies, and that this goes against everything Muffin House Cafe stands for.”
Abby’s initial clip sparked multiple responses, mostly from angered viewers. One said, “They are way too overpriced for this attitude.” Another one commented, “Imagine posting a sweet review, and instead of thanking you, the company does this. I’m so sorry, girl.”
Others commented on Muffin House Cafe’s clips, bashing them even after the apology was issued. One wrote, “Unfortunately, this must be the company culture if it’s happening regularly.” Another one added, “If no one is fired, I’m not interested.”
Abby concluded her follow-up by saying she will most likely never return to the coffee shop’s Mendon location. Still, given the owners’ welcoming attitude, she might visit others in Massachusetts.
