Metal band Frozen Soul surprised fans at a concert in Lawrence, Kansas by bringing out YouTube star Meat Canyon to start a Magic: The Gathering card game by throwing booster packs at the crowd.
Meat Canyon, also known as Papa Meat, is best known for his crude YouTube animations poking fun at viral topics like the Hawk Tuah girl and the feud between Asmongold and Hasan.
But he’s also a big MTG fan, with a whole channel, Meaty Magic, dedicated to the popular trading card game.
On April 28, metal band Frozen Soul used this to their advantage by including Meat Canyon during their set to add a little magic.
Papa Meat throws MTG boosters during metal show
During the concert, Frozen Soul, which has a history of getting metalheads to start playing Magic: The Gathering in the middle of their shows, brought out Papa Meat.
After getting the crowd to form a circle, the death metal group brought out Meat Canyon who then proceeded to throw booster packs to celebrate the release of the Secrets of Strixhaven set.
“So, if we threw packs out, who wants to sit down in the pit and play some Magic?” they asked, getting a cheer from the crowd.

Eventually, Frozen Soul was able to get fans to circle the MTG players and start moshing, all while a game of Magic unfolded.
Viewers on social media fully embraced the concept. “This is as Meat Canyon as it gets and I love it,” one said.
“This is just beyond f**king metal,” another chimed in.

Starting a Magic game during a metal show is just the latest in a long line of accomplishments for Papa Meat.
Back in 2024, the creator was left in disbelief after being referenced in The Simpsons, with Bart revealing he canonically watches the YouTuber’s videos.
