Jacob Tobey will no longer be the broadcaster for the San Antonio Spurs after his girlfriend took over his Instagram account and told the world about his infidelities with a player’s sister.
The broadcaster has been working with the Spurs since 2024, but his contract with the NBA outfit has been terminated in the wake of this controversy.
What makes this even more messy is that Tobey’s alleged affair wasn’t a private matter, but a dalliance with one of the Spurs star’s sisters.

The incident occurred on July 7, when Tobey’s Instagram account appeared to be hacked by his now ex-girlfriend, with a post sharing the indiscretions committed by the Spurs man.
A post of Tobey and his ex had the following caption attached: “This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. So feel free to continue following me if you really think I’m a good guy because I’m not.”
Another post later that day featured what appeared to be Tobey kissing a woman in a booth, with the caption: “Me and the new girl Loren Waters.”
The hacker also changed the caption on one of Tobey’s previous posts, where he was singing the national anthem, to simply feature the caption, “#Cheater.”

The woman in question, Loren Waters, is the sister of Spurs star Lindy Waters III. And that’s where things get especially messy for Tobey, leading to him losing his job with the NBA franchise.

A report from Front Office Sports carried the following statement on the matter: “Jacob Tobey is out as the Spurs’ play-by-play announcer after his girlfriend accused him of cheating on her with the sister of a player on the team, sources told FOS. Tobey’s girlfriend posted about the alleged affair on his Instagram story in the middle of the night.”
Tobey has since made his Instagram and X accounts private, and has deactivated his LinkedIn. He is yet to comment on the situation.
