In an exclusive clip from Us Weekly, NCIS: Origins Season 2 picks up after Diane and Gibbs got married. The new scene follows Gibbs joining the rest of the crew and revealing the news to everyone, including Lala.

Gibbs arrives late and hungover after his surprise wedding to Diane. The revelation comes after Vera asks about the case and notices that he has been drinking.

“We were in Vegas,” he says, confirming he was with Diane. When Randy asks if they got back together, Gibbs replies, “Yeah, we got married,” prompting laughter as everyone assumes he is joking. “You go to one of those little white chapels where Elvis does the ceremony?” Randy teases.

Lala also quips, “I think he’s still drunk.” But the mood shifts when Gibbs clarifies that he really did get married in Vegas. “A regular guy did the ceremony. Elvis already clocked out,” Gibbs explains.

Vera responds with a mix of humor and disbelief, saying, “Congratulations. When is the annulment?” The tension among the group is clear as they process the news, especially when Lala realises that he is not joking.

Austin Stowell Explains Gibbs Second Marriage

The actor Austin Stowell, who plays Gibbs in NCIS: Origins, recently reflected on his character’s second marriage in an interview with TV Insider. Stowell explained that both timing and emotional closure shape Gibbs’ journey toward marrying Diane.

Stowell emphasized that it was his conversation with Lala in the car that influenced his decision to get married, noting, “How do I move off of this potential? Marrying another woman seems like a pretty good way.”

Stowell described the aftermath humorously, saying, “Origins goes The Hangover Part 4, wake up, what happened? And then seeing evidence of what did happen and what would ensue from there,” while making it clear that Gibbs’ commitment to Diane is genuine.

He’s not wishy-washy and it’s not lost on him what it would mean to play with Diane’s emotions. He’s not playing with Diane. He does love her. As he said, someone comes along at the right time in the right place and there they are. It’s a perfect situation. And that’s who Diane is at this time.

The actor also stressed that Gibbs is fully committed to Diane and is not looking back. “He’s now taken somebody into his life and his care — so he takes that very seriously as he does all things,” he told Us Weekly.

However, fans of the original series, NCIS, will be well aware of the fate of this marriage, which remains to be seen as the prequel moves ahead.

NCIS: Origins Creator Explains Gibbs Decision to Marry Diane

Gibbs’ decision to marry Diane soon after breaking up with her has sparked discussions among fans, especially since he chose to get back with her after his conversation with Lala. In NCIS: Origins Season 2, Episode 8, Lala calls out Gibbs for pushing people away when he gets scared, something he did to her and now to Diane.

It was after this conversation that Gibbs returned to Diane and got married. Series creator Gina Lucita Monreal explained that Lala is a very significant figure in Gibbs’ life and that her words carry weight, influencing his decision.

“I think that she’s a really significant figure in his life, and her words have weight clearly,” she told TV Insider, explaining that though he still has feelings for Lala, he is trying to work through it.

“But when she talks, he listens, and he tries to take her advice in his own Gibbsian way, which, we see how that ended up,” she added.

Given that Gibbs and Diane don’t stay together, Monreal explained that the show has some flexibility in how their relationship unfolds on screen. The series is balancing staying true to canon with making the story interesting, so viewers can still expect surprises in their relationship.
