With One Piece Season 3 gearing up for production, the popular Netflix series has cast Xolo Maridueña in a key role.
Who is playing Ace in Netflix’s One Piece?
Maridueña will play Portgas D. Ace, a fan-favorite character who is revealed to be Luffy’s brother.
Maridueña is best known for playing Miguel Diaz in Netflix’s Cobra Kai. In 2023, Maridueña starred as Jamie Reyes in Blue Beetle, the live-action superhero film based on the character in DC Comics. His addition comes on the heels of the season 3 casting of Cole Escola as the assassin Bon Clay.

One Piece is Netflix’s adaptation of Japan’s highest-selling manga series of all time by Eiichiro Oda. Netflix and Tomorrow Studios produce One Piece in partnership with Shueisha.
The Netflix series follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, who teams with the Straw Hats to search for the legendary treasure, the One Piece, and become King of the Pirates. The main cast includes Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
One Piece Season 1 premiered in August 2023 and became a hit for Netflix. Among individual series, One Piece was the most-watched TV show on Netflix in the second half of 2023. The streamer renewed the series for Season 2.
One Piece Season 2, also known as One Piece: Into the Grand Line, arrives on March 10, 2026.
