What are the best characters in NTE?

Knowing the best characters in Neverness To Everness is crucial for building the strongest team possible. For this reason, you’ll find my NTE tier list down below to help you decide which characters to pull from the banners. Alongside this, I’ve made three different separate tier lists covering the damage (DPS), buff and survival characters to help you build a balanced team.

NTE tier list
Here’s our overall NTE tier list, covering what I consider to be the best characters currently in the game. Please note that this tier list is subjective, so your opinion may differ from mine.
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|
| S | Nanally / Sakiri / Jiuyuan |
| A | Esper Zero / Daffodil / Baicang / Hathor / Haniel |
| B | Alder / Fadia / Chiz |
| C | Mint / Skia / Aurelia / Edgar |
While I go into more detail about my S Tier picks in the dedicated role tier lists down below I’ll give you a quick summary now:
- Nanally sits in the S Tier because she’s the best damage / DPS deal in NTE at launch, making her the perfect addition for any team.
- Sakiri is the best buff character hands down. Alongside providing useful buffs, she’s excellent at AOE damage and crowd control.
- Jiuyuan is a mixture of two — offering strong DPS damage and having useful AOE attacks for clearing enemies. She also benefits from fitting neatly into nearly every possible team formation.
NTE Damage (DPS) tier list
Looking for the best damage characters in NTE? Then take a look at the DPS (damage-per-second) tier list down below. Remember, this list is subjective so your opinion may differ from mine.
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|
| S | Nanally / Jiuyuan |
| A | Esper Zero / Daffodil / Baicang / Hathor |
| B | Chiz |
| C | Mint / Skia / Aurelia |
Nanally has by far the strongest damage output of any character in NTE at launch. (Rather unsurprising since she’s the first limited-time banner character.) She has a mixture of both single-target and AOE attacks, granting you an excellent amount of adaptability. Her strong follow-up attacks also allow her to deal consistent damage throughout a battle. Nanally’s main strength, however, is that she can easily fit into a variety of team setups. Thanks to this, she has a very low risk of becoming a character spending the majority of her time on the bench. (Very useful if you’ve spent a lot of currency pulling for her.)
Nanally is obtained by pulling on the The Ichi-daime limited time banner.
If you missed Nanally or weren’t able to pull her despite your best efforts, then Jiuyuan is an excellent substitute. Her Burst DPS ability not only allows her to switch between being the main or sub DPS role depending on your team setup, but she’s great for AOE and single-target damage. Both her skill — Intel Hunter — and ultimate — Final Reckoning — also work partially as dash attacks, allowing Jiuyuan to cross the battlefield before dealing damage therefore providing you more moveability. Finally, Jiuyuan’s hybrid setup (being both a Control and Burst DPS character) allows her to fit into a variety of teams.
Jiuyuan can be obtained either from pulling her on the Strange Encounters banner (NTE’s standard banner) or selecting her as your chosen S-Class character after you’ve pulled on said banner 50 times.

NTE Buff tier list
When planning your team, it’s a good idea to include a buff character and this NTE buff tier list will help you find the right character. As always, this tier list is subjective.
| Tier | Character |
|---|---|
| S | Sakiri |
| A | Haniel |
Sakiri excels at both providing support for other characters and AOE damage. When it comes to her role as a buff character, Sakiri provides a damage boost. This makes her the perfect character to pair with strong DPS characters like Nanally and Jiuyuan as she will increase the amount of damage they can deal. In battle itself, Sakiri’s Devour Whole skill is perfect for clearing large amounts of enemies. This skill allows Kiroumaru (Sakiri’s Oni friend) to literally swallow enemies whole, then either knocking them down if you’re pressing the skill button or making them levitate if you’re holding said button. No matter the course you take with this skill, it can easily cut a path through a group of troublesome enemies.
Sakiri can be obtained either from pulling her on the Strange Encounters banner (NTE’s standard banner) or selecting her as your chosen S-Class character after you’ve pulled on said banner 50 times.
NTE Survival tier list
Here’s the NTE survival tier list to help you build your team. Like the past tier lists, this one is subjective so your opinion might differ.
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|
| S | Alder |
| A | Fadia |
| C | Edgar |
Alder currently sits at the top of the survival role characters thanks to his Shield ability. Using this allows you to temporarily protect your team from oncoming attacks, ensuring you can fight for longer. The other advantage to Alder is the fact you’ll actually receive him for free as part of the game’s storyline (and pretty early on too). Not only does this give you the freedom to focus on other characters when banner pulling, but any repeats of Alder can be spent on his Awaken abilities / buffs. The downside to Alder, however, is his low damage output. Though this can be circumvented by using strong DPS characters like Nanally or Jiuyuan.
Best of luck in Neverness to Everness! Make sure you’re using the latest NTE codes and how to use Modules.
