McDonald’s Canada is embracing its love for hockey by teaming up with the NHL and NHLPA for a limited-time NHL Star Sticks Meal that drops March 3.
The new rollout builds on its 2025 campaign, pairing a collectible mini stick with a full meal and a returning burger built specifically for the promo.
The headline item is the Hockey Hero Burger, plus seven different NHL Star Sticks tied to a star-heavy lineup that includes Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Macklin Celebrini, Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar, Samuel Montembeault, and Sam Reinhart.
McDonald’s Canada also noted that mini hockey sticks previously appeared in Canada nearly two decades ago, with this new lineup positioned as a modern revival of that collectible.

According to McDonald’s Canada, the NHL Star Sticks Meal is available starting March 3 “for a limited time while supplies last” at participating locations across Canada.
Each NHL Star Sticks Meal includes a medium World Famous Fries made from 100% Canadian potatoes, a medium fountain drink, and an NHL Star Stick, plus a choice of entrée.
Entrée options include the Hockey Hero Burger (limited time only), 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, Big Mac, McVeggie, or Spicy McVeggie.
McDonald’s Canada says the Hockey Hero Burger is made with “three juicy 100% Canadian beef patties, topped with shredded lettuce, crispy hickory-smoked bacon, processed cheese, and mayo-style sauce on a toasted homestyle bun.”
Connor McDavid, considered by many to be the best player in the world, said, “It’s exciting to team up with McDonald’s again, and this time around we’re giving fans a mini hockey experience.”

“The NHL Star Sticks are such a cool way for fans to collect a little piece of the game,” Olympic hockey gold medalist and Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews added.
McDonald’s Canada Chief Marketing Officer Francesca Cardarelli said: “The NHL Star Sticks Meal is all about giving fans a chance to own a piece of the game they love – from a lineup of the NHL’s biggest stars to a burger that’s as iconic as the sport itself,” and added: “It’s a true celebration of hockey culture and as the Official Hamburger of the NHL and NHLPA in Canada, we’re excited to bring this to our fans.”
This comes just weeks after McDonald’s Canada dropped a limited-edition meal collab with Drake’s OVO, put Franks Red Hot on sandwiches, and brought poutine to the breakfast menu for the first time.
