This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
The world of One Piece is absolutely massive and Oda has done a phenomenal job crafting a surreal world where countless mysterious lands exist, each with their own culture and laws. In an adventurous world such as that of One Piece, it is no surprise that Oda has incorporated many races. Fans know of countless races, each with their unique attributes, and what’s even more fascinating is that Oda keeps adding to them the more the story continues.
In Elbaf, Oda briefly touched upon the mixed races of the world, and now, it seems that he’s been asked about them by the fans. Oda fully explains one of the mixed races, called the Dosundada, but at the same time, introduced what can be considered to be the rarest race in the One Piece world.

When it comes to the races of the world, there is one thing that connects them all, and that’s love. Oda has introduced a bunch of interesting races over the years, and while prejudice does exist in the world, there are those who defy it, knowing that love has no limits. Scopper Gaban, the left arm of the Pirate King, is one such man, and he calls himself the Missionary of Love. He is known to have married a Giant, Ripley. Similarly, there are others in the One Piece world who aren’t bound by prejudiced ideology and do what they want.

Often, this has resulted in mixed races being born, and Oda briefly touched upon them through Gaban. According to Gaban, Buccaneers, Wotans, and Dosundada are all mixed races. While Buccaneers and Wotans were very well known, fans weren’t entirely sure what a Dosundada was. As such, Oda was asked about this in One Piece SBS Volume 112. Here’s what he had to say:
Question: Hello Oda-san! What are the Dosundada Tribe? Are they a tribe of mixed race between Giants and Dwarves? (Or maybe between Ancient Giants and Dwarves?)
Answer: Hmm… Quite close! The correct answer is it’s a mixed race between humans and dwarves. The name of the dwarves’ tribe «Tontatta» came from the cute sounds of their footsteps. If you raise the sound volume a bit more, it becomes «Dosundada». The mixed race between a Giant and a Dwarf is called the «Zushindodo Tribe». They’re very rare.
Oda Introduces The Rarest Race In One Piece
The Zushindodo Race Is Extremely Rare
Funnily enough, Oda has now revealed a mixed race that can be considered to be the most bizarre and confusing of all, and that is the Zushindodo Race of the One Piece world. This race comes to life when a Giant has a child with a Tontatta. It is as crazy as it sounds. A Giant, on average, is 20 meters tall in One Piece. A tonttata is about 20 cm tall. This means the average Giant is 100 times bigger than a Tontatta. How this race even works is beyond human understanding, but they do exist, even if they are extremely rare.
