One Piece: The 10 Strongest Marines as of Egghead, Ranked

The One Piece anime has finally returned, and the Egghead Incident is poised to break the internet multiple times. Many of the strongest Marines appear in the Egghead Arc, and several of them have used their immense strength during combat. Most of the strongest Marines are Devil Fruit users capable of using at least two types of Haki.

The strongest Marines during the Egghead Arc hold the rank of Admiral or Fleet Admiral, which means they are roughly Yonko-level fighters. There are also a few vice admirals, two captains, and an inspector who deserve recognition. Some of the strongest Marines are legendary figures from the previous era, and they are still capable fighters despite being senior citizens.

Most of the world believes X Drake is a former rear admiral who quit the Marines to become a pirate. The Wano Arc revealed X Drake is still part of the Marines, serving as the captain of SWORD. This special force is made up of Marines who have officially resigned, but who continue to work on behalf of the organization in secret. X Drake’s tenure as a pirate proved how strong he is.

X Drake is part of the Worst Generation, which includes powerful pirates like Luffy, Zoro, and Blackbeard. He infiltrated the infamous Beast Pirates and became part of the Flying Six, making him one of Kaido’s strongest fighters. X Drake can use Armament Haki to strengthen his physical attacks and he can transform into an Allosaurus and Allosaurus-Human hybrid thanks to his Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit. He fought on par with Scratchmen Apoo, a fellow member of the Worst Generation, and he critically injured Guernika, one of Cipher Pol’s strongest agents.

When Luffy first met Koby, he was a weak teenager who dreamt of becoming a strong Marine. Thanks to vice admiral Garp’s training, Koby is well on his way to achieving that dream. He is already viewed as a hero because he rescued civilians during the Rocky Port incident. His physical strength and durability increased significantly in just two years and he learned to use Observation and Armament Haki. Koby currently holds the rank of Marine captain, but can be promoted to vice admiral at any time.

During the Egghead Arc, Koby revealed he can use advanced Armament Haki to emit energy without a medium. His Haki is powerful enough to blast apart a colossal arm produced by Avalo Pizarro’s Island-Island Fruit with a single blow. This implies Koby’s overall strength is currently greater than a lower-tier Yonko Commander’s, and he is destined to become even stronger.

Tsuru is a Marine vice admiral who rose to fame during the Great Pirate era alongside legendary individuals like Garp, Gol D. Roger, and Whitebeard. She is now in her late 70s, but Tsuru is still held in high regard, and certain pirates know better than to underestimate her. Even a former Warlord of the Sea like Doflamingo respects her capabilities to some degree.

Tsuru has hardly fought in the anime and manga, but she is without a doubt one of One Piece‘s strongest female characters. She possesses powerful Haki, and she ate the Wash-Wash Fruit, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit which gives her the power to literally wash her opponents and hang them out to dry like wet clothes. She used this power to defeat several pirates during the Summit War of Marineford. Tsuru personally fought against Jack’s forces when the Yonko Commander attempted to rescue Doflamingo.

She is a determined and temperamental woman who seems to follow some form of moral Justice, and she is known for luring pirates in with her seductive hospitality. Momousagi is very close to vice admiral Tsuru, who views her as a little sister. They also hold the same rank.

During One Piece‘s time skip, Momousagi was one of the top candidates for the vacant admiral positions, but Ryokugyu and Fujitora received the promotions instead. The fact that Momousagi was even considered for the position is proof she is one of the strongest Marines. Given her rank, Momousagi possesses powerful Haki, but it is not known if she has a Devil Fruit.

Ryokugyu is a highly skilled Observation and Armament Haki user, and he has the power of the Woods-Woods Fruit. This Logia may not offer intangibility, but it gives Ryokugyu complete control over plant life.

Ryokugyu fought Morley, a Giant and Revolutionary Army Commander, to a standstill. In Wano he easily defeated King and Queen, two of One Piece‘s strongest Yonko Commanders. It is true they were already injured, but he defeated them nonetheless. Ryokugyu used the Woods-Woods Fruit to overpower Yamato, Momonosuke, and the remainder of Red Scabbards at the same time. Only someone close to Yonko-level status could pull off such feats.

He retired after the Summit War, but he continues to serve the Marines as an Inspector General, where he investigates maladministration, corruption, and defection. Sengoku is a legend from the Great Pirate Era and was one of the two Marines that Gol D. Roger considered worthy of his time. During the Summit War, he pinned Garp to the ground using a single hand.

Sengoku is one of the few people in the world who can use all three types of Haki, and he ate the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Buddha. This Mythical Zoan allows Sengoku to transform into a giant golden Buddha. Sengoku can generate golden shockwaves with palm thrusts. He might be in his late 70s, but Sengoku’s shockwaves are still comparable to those generated by the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. They are powerful enough to send Blackbeard and most of his commanders flying.

He wields the Yakuza Kasen, a cane sword which happens to be one of the world’s 12 Supreme Grade Blades, and he can imbue it with Armament Haki. Fujitora’s Observation Haki is so advanced he can sense incoming attacks and perceive living beings around him as person-shaped auras. This allows him to fight like a master swordsman.

Fujitora ate the Press-Press Fruit, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit which gives him the power to control gravitational forces. He can pin people to the ground using extreme gravity, and he can hurl Marine battleships through the air as if they were weightless. Fujitora has the power to destroy any Kingdom in the world because he can use gravity to call meteors down from space.

Kizaru’s greatest strength is the Glint-Glint Fruit, a Logia-type Devil Fruit which gives him the ability to create, control, and transform into light. He benefits from intangibility and can move at the speed of light. He can perform explosive high-speed kicks and shoot lasers that can pierce through almost anything.

Kizaru took out most of the Worst Generation at Sabaody Archipelago, and he would have killed Zoro if Silvers Rayleigh had not intervened. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda himself revealed the fight between Kizaru and Gear 5 Luffy on Egghead was evenly matched. Gear 5 allowed Luffy to defeat Kaido, an act which earned the Straw Hat captain his Yonko status. This means Kizaru possesses Yonko-level strength.

Garp is the legendary Marine who battled Gol D. Roger multiple times. He has been a vice admiral for decades and was offered an Admiral position on several occassions, but he refused because he had no interest in serving the Celestial Dragons directly. Garp does not have a Devil Fruit, but he can use all three types of Haki, and he is one of the select few who can use advanced Armament Haki and advanced Conqueror’s Haki.

Garp is nearing 80 and has lost a good amount of his strength due to age, but his Galaxy Impact punch can still level an entire city. He knocked out Sanjuan Wolf, Blackbeard’s giant Yonko Commander, with a single punch. Kuzan is a much younger former Admiral who can control ice with his Logia-type Devil Fruit, and Garp was still able to match his power when they clashed on Pirate Island.

He ate the Magma-Magma Fruit, a Logia which gives him complete control over magma. Akainu can bombard an army with magma blasts and his magma fists can burn through anything, including fire.

Akainu killed Portgas D. Ace, a Yonko commander, with a single magma punch at Marineford. Whitebeard was a Yonko and the strongest man in the world, and Akainu was able to critically injure him with his magma. During the time skip, Akainu permanently altered the climate of Punk Hazard, turning half the island into a volcanic hellscape. He defeated Kuzan after battling him for ten days and took his left leg in the process.
