Nico Robin has been labelled as the ‘Laziest Pirate’ among the other Straw Hat Pirates by the One Piece fandom. Yes, if you really consider most of her screen time, the claim actually has some validation. Robin is the most laid-back and relaxed member of the crew. Despite tough situations, she has been seen to maintain composure and focus, but not because of her laziness.

While the subcaptions of the thread clearly mention that @La-in-3D was actually joking around with the title of his post, many seemed to take it on a serious note. However, the Nico Robin fans were always going to be there to clarify the claims.

Why Is Nico Robin an Essential Part of the Crew in One Piece?

Nico Robin joined Luffy’s crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, at the end of the Arabasta Arc and has been a member ever since, apart from the Enis Lobby Arc. Why do we claim she is one of the most crucial members of the Straw Hats? Well, she is the archaeologist and scholar of the crew, the only one who can decipher the Poneglyphs.

As we all know by now, the Poneglyphs – both Road Poneglyphs and Red Poneglyphs – are an essential roadmap created by Gol D. Roger to reach Laugh Tale and uncover his One Piece treasure. In order to get there, Robin is the only member who can set their direction, especially due to her upbringing in Ohara.

While that clears her position in the crew, let’s talk about her individual qualities and abilities that make her important. Robin has the power of the Hana Hana no Mi (Flower-Flower Fruit), which allows her to sprout and control replicas of their own body parts.

While she has already shown very strong applications of this in the series already, during the Wano Arc, she revealed Demonio Fluer – a giant demonic form used to overpower enemies, combining her Devil Fruit abilities with Fish-Man Karate for massive strength and crowd control. This has proven her to be a key combatant of Luffy’s crew, as well as being their Poneglyph decipherer.
