Was I too quick to judge the previous episode? Because all the praise I gave in my last review fades away in comparison to the ‘absolute cinema’ that this week’s Oshi no Ko Season 3 Episode 4 has been. Right from the get-go, Aqua and Ruby’s conversation (where the previous episode left off) was intense, to say the least.

Watching Aqua witness the monster that Ruby has become in such a short amount of time even had my own heart racing, especially when Ruby says, “Love and passion aren’t enough to make it in the business.” That right there was the moment when Aqua realized she is beyond saving now. It wouldn’t take long before she surpasses Ai’s popularity.

Now don’t get me wrong. I also care for Ruby as much as Aqua does, so seeing her become what she never wanted to was truly unsettling. So, as any caring brother would do, Aqua tails her to find out who she is taking ideas from. And oh boy, the way he learns everything after meeting Ichigo Saitou surpasses all my expectations.

How Aqua’s Conversation With Saitou Turned His World Upside Down

Our poor Aqua thought everything was resolved. Ai’s death had been avenged, and now he could simply lead a peaceful life while supporting his little sister. But when he finally gets to chat with Saitou-san, the former manager of B-Komachi, his whole life turns into a lie.

The face he was making at that moment was unbearable to even look at; props to Studio Doga Kobo, though, for animating this scene. But yeah, after realizing that Ai’s murderer might still be alive, it turns his world upside down. The boy could not handle the shock!

Finally, when Saitou suggests that the culprit could have used paternity fraud to make it seem like Himekawa and Aqua shared the same biological father, Aqua realizes it was all a fabricated lie.

Now, with all that information, it’s very understandable that Aqua has a mental breakdown. The scene where he just sits on a park bench under heavy rain, contemplating what exactly he has been up to, while his inner thoughts push him not to forget his revenge, was a cinematic masterclass. Kana, however, was caught up in this mess and was slapped for no reason. That was also hard to watch, man.

Akane May Become Key to Unravelling the Mystery Behind Ai’s Death

I already liked Akane’s character from season 1, and this episode just gave me all the more reason to love her even more. Now guess what? She might become the wild card in all this catastrophe. Remember how she figured out a lot about Aqua and Ai’s relationship just by learning how to act like Ai? That again became relevant in Episode 4.

Why? Because it’s official, everyone. Akane is the very first person to figure out the real identity of Aqua and Ruby’s biological father, Hikaru Kamiki. Geez, the way everything led to this revelation in the episode was actually absolute cinema, no less. Even when Akane was piecing all the information together, I felt like I was watching one of the best-written mystery thrillers of my life.

Oshi no Ko Season 3 Episode “Blind” Final Verdict

Well, the more I say, the less I would actually be saying. Especially with the insane animation, godly soundtracks, and the series’ unsettling vibes, Oshi no Ko Season 3 Episode 4, “Blind,” has inarguably been the best so far. However, the game is only just starting from here on.

I’m just imagining how it’d look: Aqua and Ruby both acting individually to find the real culprit without letting anyone know about it, while Akane has all the information they need. This feels like it is shaping up to be the best 4D cat-and-mouse chase to ever exist in every piece of fiction.

Oshi no Ko Season 3 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
