Palworld 1.0 Map Guide: Recommended Levels for All Zones

Wandering blindly through Palpagos is a spectacular way to get completely deleted by a boss ten levels above your pay grade.

Palworld 1.0 Map Guide: Recommended Levels for All Zones

Palworld doesn’t care about your feelings, and it certainly won’t stop you from walking straight into a meat grinder. If you step into the wrong zone too early, an Alpha Pal will happily send you back to the lobby before you can even reach for a Pal Sphere. I spent entirely too much time getting stomped into the dirt trying to figure out where the invisible boundary lines are drawn. Knowing the actual level ranges for each region before you set out saves you a massive amount of frustration and a whole lot of wasted resources.

The Ground Rules of Progression

The numbers I’m laying out below aren’t arbitrary walls put up by the developers. They are based on the actual levels of the bosses and Alpha Pals guarding the territory. Sure, the regular wildlife wandering around the brush might be a little weaker, but the bosses set the functional floor for surviving the area.

If you’re running a highly optimized build and you’ve already figured out the best stats to upgrade, you might be able to handle a zone about five levels early. Pushing your luck beyond that is just asking for a corpse run.

Map Region Recommended Level Range
Eastern Wild, Forgotten, Ice Wind, Marsh, Sea Breeze Level 1 to 10
Windswept Hills Level 1 to 15
Bamboo Groves Level 10 to 20
Twilight Dunes Level 10 to 25
Moonless Shore Level 15 to 25
No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary Level 20 to 25
Frostbound Mountains & Verdant Brook Level 20 to 30
Mount Obsidian Level 30 to 40
Astral Mountains Level 35 to 50
No. 2 & No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuaries Level 40 to 45
Dessicated Desert Level 40 to 50
Feybreak Island Level 50 to 60+
Sunreach Level 65 to 70+
Sandstone Gate, Glacial Memento, Bicornis Islet Level 70+
Gilded City Ruins, Dusty Ravine, Northwest Region Level 75 to 80+

Early and Mid-Game Map Scaling

The central and coastal areas of the main landmass handle the bulk of your journey from level 1 through roughly level 45. The difficulty ramps up at a totally manageable pace here. You’ll move through these zones naturally as you build your base and gear up.

But before you get too comfortable and start exploring the edges, make sure you actually pack the right gear. Dying to sudden heatstroke in the Dessicated Desert at level 40 because you forgot to swap out your armor is genuinely embarrassing. Temperature matters just as much as your combat level, so keep your cold and heat-resistant clothes handy.

Surviving the Endgame Islands

Once you clear the main continent, the training wheels completely fall off. The map breaks out into distinct, high-level island zones where the difficulty spikes sharply. You can’t just stumble into these areas casually from the safety of the starting shores.

Unlocking Hidden Territories

Some of the absolute hardest zones on the map don’t just demand a high level, they require deliberate progression steps to even appear on your map interface. Sunreach is the perfect example. It won’t show up for you until you clear the exact route through Feybreak Tower.

Think of Feybreak Island as your natural bridge between the main map and the endgame islets. It’s your proving ground, which is a nice way of saying it’s where you’ll figure out if your squad is actually good or just riding your coattails. I highly recommend grinding there between levels 50 and 65 before you ever attempt to push further.

What to Do When You Hit a Wall

If you find yourself severely underleveled for the next island, don’t just brute force it. The absolute fastest path to leveling up involves a tight loop: catch ten of every single Pal type for the massive XP bonuses, run through dungeons, and take down the main tower bosses in the correct order. Also, grab every Fast Travel point you see. Having a network of waypoints makes returning to specific regions to farm resources significantly faster once you’ve actually cleared the local threats.

As you push into the higher brackets, you also need to get serious about breeding. Throwing spheres at random spawns won’t cut it anymore. If you want a preview of what you’re up against in the new late game, checking out the biggest changes shaking up Palpagos will get you up to speed on the 72 new Pals and the massive sky islands added in the 1.0 update. The ultimate endgame challenges currently sit within the Gilded City Ruins and the mysterious Northwest map region. These areas scale all the way to the maximum level cap of 80+, standing as the ultimate test of your sanity and squad composition.
