Breeding in Palworld offers you the chance to hatch powerful Pals — be it for battling or working on your base while you’re out and about. You can even use it to fill out missing entries in your Paldeck. You’ll need a Breeding Farm and a Cake to get started (yes — cake). On that note, here’s our picks for the best breeding combos in Palworld, including how to breed pals and how to get a Breeding Farm.

Palworld Best Breeding Combos
Knowing the best breeding combos in Palworld will help you figure out what pairings you’ll want to aim for using in your breeding farm to get new Pals for your collection. There are multiple, and we mean multiple, different kinds of Pals you can make through breeding (as seen by the amount of entries in your Paldeck).
However, some Pals are far better to aim for than others — though which ones these are will be subjective to your current needs and which base you’re going to apply them to. For example, a Pal well suited to Mining will be useless at a Fire focused base but will excel at a Mining focused base.
The one rule you must know is that you need one male and one female Pal in your Breeding Farm to be able to, well, breed them.
With that in mind, here are a few of our picks for the best breeding combos in Palworld:
Anubis
Bred from:
- Broncherry and Mammorest
- Penking and Bushi (easiest pairing)
- Mossanda and Katress
Anubis is an excellent early-game Pal to have at your base due to their high-level work suitability, particularly when it comes to Handiwork and Mining. Its Handiwork skill is Level 4 and its Mining skill is Level 3 — two valuable high-level skills to have working away in your base while you’re off exploring. Remember, you can find an Alpha Anubis to add to your collection too — but breeding them is a surefire, and much easier, way of obtaining them for your Paldeck.
Anubis also has the ‘Guardian of the Desert’ partner skill. This lets you change your attack type to ‘Ground’ type while you’re fighting alongside Anubis. A handy change if you find yourself fighting Pals that are weak to this type but you don’t have any specific attacks from this yet.
Lunaris
Bred from:
- Lamball and Tombat
- Lifmunk and Croajiro
- Celaray and Pengullet (easiest pairing)
Lunaris is a Pal you should try to breed as soon as possible, they are neutral but they have a Level 3 Handiwork skill. This is not the reason they’re on our list though. If you’re out with Lunaris in your party, your maximum carry capacity increases, thereby meaning you can collect and carry even more items with ease. This is particularly useful when you’re venturing far away from your own base to collect rare materials, and may save you having to take multiple trips.
Faleris
Bred from:
- Vanwyrm and Anubis
- Faleris and Faleris
Faleris is a flying mount Fire-type. They have the Kindling Level 3 and Transporting Level 3 work suitabilities. While being used as a flying mount or fighting together, Faleris has the ‘Scorching Predator’ partner skill. This makes Ice-types drop more items when being defeated by yourself and Faleris. However, they’re arguably more useful at your base for taking care of anything that requires fire and to help you move your base supplies around swiftly.
Orserk
Bred from:
- Relaxaurus and Grizzbolt (easiest combination)
- Orserk and Orserk
Orserk has multiple work suitabilities. They are Handiwork Level 2, Transporting Level 3 and Electricity Level 4 — making them one of the most useful Pals you can have working at your base. However, it can also be beneficial to take Orserk out on adventures with you. Their partner skill is Ferocious Thunder Dragon, which causes Water-type Pals to drop extra materials while Orserk is your active partner.
Shadowbeak
Bred from:
- Kitsun and Astegon (easiest combination)
- Shadowbeak and Shadowbeak
Shadowbeak is a Dark-type Pal and has made this list for its passive skills when it comes to being used as a mount or alongside you while attacking. It’s only got a Gathering Level 1 work suitability, but hear us out. As a Mount, you can expect movement speed boosts, attack, defense and stamina boosts. Its attack passives also contribute to this, as well as having a Dark-type attack boost. Shadowbeak’s partner skill is Modified DNA — this increases the Dark damage dealt by Shadowbeak and you while mounting Shadowbeak.
How to Breed Pals in Palworld
To breed Pals in Palworld you need to place a Male and Female Pal into a Breeding Farm, then use a Cake to breed them. You can find more details on this below.
1. Place down your cake
After making a Cake, it’s time to finally breed some Pals in Palworld! Firstly, we recommend placing your Cake in the box on the right-hand side of the Breeding Farm to save some time.
2. Choose the breeding Pals
Next, you need to decide which Pals you want to breed and, if you’d like to breed a specific Pal. We recommend taking a look at the best breeding combos detailed above where we’ve explained how to do this. When it comes to selecting which Pals to breed, it’s a good idea to focus on your rarest Pals, including one’s with rare traits, Alpha or Lucky Pals, as they will create powerful Pals.
It’s important to note that you need one female and one male Pal in your Breeding Farm. Simply assign your chosen Pals to your base and then toss them into the Breeding Farm.
3. Wait for them to breed
Now, if your Cake is already in the box, all you have to do is sit back and wait for them to breed. (Well, I’d go do something else. It would be pretty strange if you just stood there waiting.)
There will be a timer to indicate how long it will take for them to breed and, once it’s full, return to collect your egg. Now all you have to do is pop that egg in an Incubator, wait for it to hatch and you’ll have a new Pal.
Keep in mind that you need to make a Cake every time you want to obtain an Egg via breeding.
How to get a Breeding Farm in Palworld
Before you can start breeding Pals in Palworld, you need to build a Breeding Farm and, to unlock it, you need to be Level 19 and have two Technology Points.
Once you’ve unlocked the Breeding Farm, it will require the following to build:
- Wood — 100
- Stone — 20
- Fiber — 50
Keep in mind that the Breeding Farm takes up a lot of room, so choose its place in your base wisely.
Depending on how full your base currently is, you may want to wait until you’ve upgraded it to Level 10 as, at this point, you’ll be able to build a second base. This could then be turned into a dedicated place for your Breeding Farm and its associated resources.
Alongside the Breeding Farm, you’ll also need to build an Incubator so that you can hatch the Eggs your Pals lay. Still, even with your Breeding Farm constructed, you first need to make a Cake before you can start breeding Pals.
