The Pokemon TCG is perfect whether you’re a collector, investor, or competitor who enjoys winning to earn the chance to attend special tournaments, like Regional Championships. Even if you’re not one of the competitors at a Regional Championship event, you can still have a fun time and could walk away with a valuable staff promo for your time.
Just like some of the most valuable prerelease cards, the most expensive Regional Championship promo cards boast the ‘Staff’ stamp, indicating their exclusivity to volunteers working at the events. While prize cards designated for tournament winners might be the most valuable, these Regional Championship promos still command hefty price tags.
Cards are ordered according to their TCGplayer market price. Any cards without a market price are not included.
8 Cynthia 119: Regional Championships (Staff) – $129.99
Note The Number
When it comes to Regional Championship promo cards, it’s important to keep an eye on a card’s number and the art variant, particularly when it comes to Cynthia. This valuable Staff Promo card is number 119, but is one of two Cynthia Regional Championship Staff Promo variants.
Sticking to this card, the pose is simple but quintessentially Cynthia, so you’ll love to add this to your growing Cynthia card collection.
Only Staff members or volunteers at the Regional Championship events originally received these promos, so you can only find them on the secondary market if you didn’t attend the event.
7 Umbreon 60/108: Regional Championships (Promo) – $138.87
An Unusual Umbreon
Umbreon distinguishes itself as the sole non-Staff promo to make the list of the most expensive Regional Championship cards in the Pokemon TCG. Umbreon is always a beloved Pokemon whose collection of valuable cards is only eclipsed by all-time greats, like Pikachu.
However, while this card is the only one without a ‘Staff’ stamp and is still expensive enough to command well over $100, what might this card command with a stamp? We’ll get there soon enough.
6 Misty’s Determination 104/122: Regional Championships (Staff) – $161.75
Professor Misty?
Misty is one of the most beloved trainers in the entire Pokemon TCG, as she appeared alongside Ash and Brock in the original Pokemon anime. While her appearance in this scene is much more distinguished and put-together than the tomboyish mermaid’s usual style, she’s still as recognizable as ever.
This is one of the most valuable Regional Championship Staff promos ever created, and based on the character featured, you can guess that its nostalgia value might play a role in that calculation.
5 Cynthia 119a: Regional Championships (Staff) – $164.65
The Champion Cynthia
A single letter makes a big difference in the battle between Cynthia’s art variants, as this card boasts a different number and pose for Cynthia, although it still comes from the same series of Regional Championship cards. Despite the small changes, the value makes a big jump, at roughly $30 higher than the alternate version.
This pose is deserving of the extra cost based on the superior level of detail and the excitement that this action-shot provides as Cynthia prepares to jump into battle alongside her Pokemon.
4 Iono 185/193: Regional Championships (Staff) – $178.00
A New Favorite
Iono carries the torch passed on by Cynthia, as this Paldean trainer catapulted herself into popularity thanks to her electric style and silly streamer personality. Despite being one of the newest Regional Championship promo cards on the list, Iono eclipses her competition, with only a few cards hovering at higher values.
While this Iono artwork isn’t unique, the reverse holo pattern, Regional Championship decal, and Staff stamp set it apart from its peers, and give Iono an almost $200 price tag. With such a strong start to her Pokemon TCG career, Iono seems destined to eclipse the $200 plateau.
3 Jolteon 37/108: Regional Championships (Staff) – $190.00
Old School Still Has It
On the flip side, Jolteon is one of the oldest Regional Championship cards on the list, as this 2013 release is about a decade older than the previous Iono card. Some things, like Eeveelutions, never go out of style, so it’s no surprise to see this card creeping up the list.
If you’re interested in collecting all the most valuable Jolteon cards possible, then this will likely be one of the hardest ones to track down, given its source.
2 Lillie 215a: Regional Championships (Staff) – $245.00
Leaping To New Highs
Lillie locks into the runner-up spot with her sky-high price tag and adorable moment with her beloved Clefairy. Lillie and Clefairy are arguably the most popular duo to emerge from the Sun & Moon generation, with these two still appearing on cards together in modern sets like Journey Together.
Even as styles change, certain duos endure through time, with Lillie and Clefairy seeming destined to become one of the next all-time favorites. This rare Regional Championship promo should soar over time, so good luck getting one.
1 Umbreon 60/108: Regional Championships (Staff) – $500.00
The Staff Stamp Seals It
Umbreon makes its triumphant return, this time boasting the ‘Staff’ stamp that had been so noticeably absent from the prior version. This small difference accounts for a nearly $400 price difference, as this incredible card stands tall around the $500 mark.
As one of the most popular Pokemon ever, Umbreon’s gorgeous Regional Championship promo design should take home the gold. The blue background is the perfect choice for Umbreon, and even gives hints of its shiny blue color palette on its upper ear.
