A Pokemon collector said they traded their supercar for a massive Trading Card Game collection worth around $140,000.

The deal was shared in a post on a Pokemon collecting Facebook group, where the user, Geoff Pritchett, said they had traded their Audi R8 for a collection made up of sealed products and individual cards dating back to the Sun & Moon era.

The Sun & Moon block, named after the games of the same name, was printed between 2017 and 2019.

Collector says deal included $75K in sealed products

“Finally closed the deal, trading my R8 for a huge Pokemon collection,” the post read.

The collector said the trade included around $75,000 worth of sealed Pokemon TCG products alongside another $65,000 in single cards.

Prices for a second-hand Audi R8 vary wildly depending on condition, mileage, and model, with prices ranging anywhere from $40,000 to $160,000. It’s unclear from the seller’s post which model they owned or the car’s condition.

According to the post, the cards and products primarily dated back to the Sun & Moon era of the Pokemon TCG, which has continued to rise in popularity as products become scarcer due to age.

All sets from the Sun & Moon era have long been out of print, succeeded in 2019 by sets based on the Sword & Shield games.

The user also said they still had “a ton to go through and organize” following the deal and planned to upload a video documenting the trade.

Images shared alongside the post showed the Audi R8 involved in the trade as well as stacks of sealed Pokemon products and card storage boxes.

High-value Pokemon card deals have become increasingly common in recent years as older products continue climbing in price, with sealed booster boxes and rare singles, even from the newest Scarlet & Violet sets, fetching huge prices.

While this deal isn’t quite of the same calibre, Logan Paul sold his one-of-a-kind Pikachu Illustrator card back in February for millions, and new sets are so sought after that fans often go to extreme measures to be first in line to get their hands on products.
