Pokemon TCG collectors are furious after apparent GameStop pricing for the upcoming 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection surfaced online, showing the retailer charging $599.99 for a single box.
The 30th Celebration line is a major anniversary release for the Pokemon TCG, with products launching in waves from September through December. As with other special sets, booster packs will only be available inside boxes, tins, bundles, and other sealed products rather than sold individually.
The Ultra-Premium Collections are the biggest-ticket items in the lineup. The Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Day & Night boxes are set to release on November 6 and have been listed at $179.99 retail, with each one including 29 30th Celebration booster packs, one Classic Collection booster pack, promo cards, a playmat, sleeves, and other accessories.

Pokemon fans call out GameStop triple retail prices
The backlash started after Pokemon Alerts & News posted an image of what appeared to be GameStop’s internal price list. The highlighted listing read “PKM 30 Celeb UltraPremSD11/6” with a price of $599.99, more than triple the $179.99 MSRP being circulated for the product.
Following the outrage, the account posted a full suggested retail price list for the 30th Celebration catalog, claiming the ETB should be $49.99, the UPC should be $179.99, Booster Bundles should be $26.94, and the Poster Collection should be $14.99.
Collectors sprang to accuse GameStop of effectively charging resale prices before the product has even been released.
“Why does TPCi continue to give Gamestop promo cards etc. when they are actively making the TCG situation worse with such a ridiculous markup on products?” Joe Merrick, creator of Serebii, wrote on X. “It should be MSRP and not a cent higher.”

Absolutely abhorrent behaviour by Gamestop https://t.co/UY7JHYAWje

In a follow-up, Merrick compared the rumored GameStop prices with MSRP, writing: “ETBs should be $49.99. They’re listed for $150. UPCs should be $179.99. They’re listed for $600. Booster Bundles should be ~$27. They’re listed for $80.”

Pokemon scalpers are so bad Target is now cutting open sealed booster boxes

Pokemon’s $200 book has already become the latest scalper target
Reddit users had a similar reaction, with one r/pokemoncards post about the pricing reaching hundreds of upvotes. “$600?!” one user wrote, while another said, “If it’s not MSRP it doesn’t exist.”
The controversy comes as Pokemon TCG collectors continue to complain about scalpers, limited availability, and high secondary-market prices around major releases. GameStop’s online 30th Celebration hub currently lists 13 results for the upcoming line.
