Mesprit, the Emotion Pokémon, can be found in both raids and in the wild in Pokémon Go.
That said, it is a regional exclusive Legendary Pokémon and its ability to spawn in the wild in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India is purely a technicality; the vast majority of players will never see one in the overworld. To all intents as purposes, this is a Raid boss, a Pokédex filler, and nothing more in Pokémon Go.
Depending on the in-game event, Mesprit might also be available in five-star raids. Like all Legendary Pokémon, you will almost certainly need help taking it down. Fortunately, thanks to Remote Raiding, you can do this from the comfort of your own home.

Mesprit counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go
Here are the weaknesses and counters that you can use to defeat Mesprit in Pokémon Go:
- Mesprit type: Psychic-type
- Mesprit is weak against: Bug, Dark and Ghost-type attacks
- Mesprit is resistant to: Fighting and Psychic-type attacks
- Mesprit Mega counters: Mega Tyranitar, Mega Absol and Mega Gengar are your best options here.
- Mesprit counters: Dawn Wings Necrozma (Shadow Claw and Moongeist Beam) is an absolute ultra beast, and it stands to reason this is the top counter against pretty much all mono-Psychic Pokémon. It’s on par with Mega Tyranitar with Brutal Swing, which speaks volumes… Following up from that, we have Shadow Tyranitar with Brutal Swing. Ideally you’d want a full team of them, as we’re quickly looking at diminishing returns. Beyond that, we have Shadow Weavile, Shadow Chandelure, Dusk Mane Necrozma, regular Tyranitar and Darkrai.
- Number of players to beat Mesprit: Mesprit is much easier than its cousin Uxie, and should only take three to four trainers with optimal counters.
- Tactics: Bring your strongest Ghost and Dark types!

Mesprit Moveset in Pokémon Go
Mesprit, like all Pokémon in Pokémon Go, can use a variety of Fast and Charged moves:
Fast Moves:
- Confusion (Psychic)
- Extrasensory (Psychic)
Charged Moves:
- Blizzard (Ice)
- Future Sight (Psychic)
- Swift (Normal)

Everything we know about Mesprit
According to its official Pokédex page, Mesprit is known as «The Being of Emotion.» It taught humans the nobility of sorrow, pain, and joy.’ Having been based on a sprite, and given the mischievous look on its face, we’re not sure how much it enjoyed doing this. This doesn’t look like a Pokémon you want to get on the wrong side of!
Along with Uxie and Azelf, appears to be inspired by the Imperial Regalia of Japan, which are consists of three relics – the sword Kusanagi no Tsurugi, the mirror Yata no Kagami and the jewel Yasakani no Magatama.
Each piece of the Imperial Regalia of Japan represents a specific virtue – Kusanagi no Tsurugi represents valour, the Yata no Kagami represents wisdom and Yasakani no Magatama represents benevolence.
If you know your Pokémon lore, then you’ll know that each of the Lake Guardians represents one of these virtues too.
As the emotion Pokémon, Mesprit represents benevolence, with the belief that it taught humans how to feel emotions, and, in turn, is the representation for the jewel Yasakani no Magatama in the Lake Guardian trio.
