The Pokémon Trading Card Game has finally revealed when players can expect the release of their first English Mega Evolution set. Unfortunately, it’s a bit later than initially expected, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The late release offers more recovery time to The Pokémon Company International, which has been working tirelessly to juggle restocks of previously sold-out sets from this past year alongside new launches.
According to PokeBeach, the first English Mega Evolution Set will launch for players on September 26th, 2025, with prereleases going live shortly before, on September 13th, 2025. While that is several months away, this delay from the usual Q3 timeline, which is typically August, won’t feel so far away, as this new set will be directly ing the massive dual-set release of Black Bolt & White Flare, scheduled for July 18th, 2025.
Unfortunately, players are being advised to expect prerelease shortages for this set, so if you’ve got your eye on this one, then you’ll want to keep a close eye on pre-order announcements.
Pokémon TCG's Mega Evolution Set Will Release On September 26th
This New Set Will Be Based On Japan's Mega Sets, Launching A Month Earlier
While we still have no official name for this English Mega Evolution Set launching on September 26th, we do know that it will be based on Japan’s Mega sets, Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, which are releasing a month earlier, on August 1st, 2025. Although the set list has not been revealed for those sets either, we do know that they will be based around Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir.
At the moment, Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir are the only cards we can likely confirm for the English Mega Evolution set as well, but we should expect more reveals in the coming weeks, especially as hype continues to build around Pokémon Legends Z-A’s release, the upcoming game that is also focused on Mega Evolutions. If you’re hoping to see what this mysterious Mega set may withhold beforehand, and whether it’s worth your effort to try to snag a preorder, keep an eye on Japan’s launch in August and the upcoming set list reveal.
Prerelease For The Mega Evolution Set Begins September 13th
Collectors Should Be Prepared For Preorders & Expect Shortages
As mentioned, prereleases will be going live roughly 2 weeks before the official launch of the set, on September 13th, 2025. Unsurprisingly, this is something you won’t want to miss if you’re hoping to get your hands on this set, as The Pokémon Company International has already begun to prepare collectors and event organizers for the fact that there will be shortages, even of the prerelease kits. This is also the same news we received regarding Black Bolt & White Flare‘s releases, so while predictable, it does continue to spark a bit of panic among those hoping to acquire these sets.
According to PokeBeach, however, The Pokémon Company International has made an effort to console Pokémon TCG collectors that «this won’t necessarily be the case for future events,» as they hope to catch up on the new sets soon ing their recent widespread restocks. For now, however, that just means pre-orders are even more valuable and not something you should take lightly if you don’t want to risk paying scalper prices or waiting several months for a potential restock of this upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game set.
