The Predator franchise’s next story promises to be all kinds of brutal. ing the recent release of Predator: Badlands in theaters, it appears that Marvel Comics is looking to up the ante when it comes to showcasing the lethal reputation of the Yautja.

Without a doubt, the Predator franchise has been thriving across media. Between recent screen success and ambitious comics, the franchise has had renewed energy in the past few years, and that couldn’t be more evident than with the upcoming series announcement for Predator: Bloodshed.

Marvel's Predator: Bloodshed Releases In February

Marvel’s Predator: Bloodshed arrives on February 25th, coming from writer Jordan Morris with art by Roland Boschi and Ruairi Coleman. Rather than the remote hunts in the wild as we’ve typically seen, the official synopsis for the upcoming Predator series teases a whole new kind of battlefield with a Yautja warrior entering a violent, high-stakes tournament on Earth:

“In the near future, Earth’s fiercest fighters have gathered for an underground martial arts tournament organized by a shadowy organization. But all hell breaks loose when an unexpected combatant enters the ring: an alien PREDATOR!

Now the champions are battling not just for the grand prize, but for their very lives! Can a disparate group of competitors band together in time to survive the extraterrestrial hunter?! Choose your fighter, place your bets, and brace yourselves for a bloody tournament unlike any other!”

Putting a Predator into a combat arena feels like it will be a unique deviation from the franchise’s usual formula, just like we saw with Predator: Badlands which had a Yautja as the leading protagonist. Likewise, a Yautja warrior looking to test himself against an extremely deadly collective of humans one after the other makes perfect sense, practically guaranteeing an incredibly bloody time ahead.
